hi The amapi tutorial cd nears its completion. It also gives some information on using amapi to create poser clothing and practical uses which would be of interest to the group here. I have written a little application that will help overcome a problem with the current versions of amapi when using it to create a symmetrical duplicate of a previously uv mapped obj model. Anyhow, I am going to be including this with the tute. To better help me understand how many people can actually use it "as is" (without an installer)...I need to know the following. Do you have the following file on your computer: "scrrun.dll" Just do a search for it from your start menu..it should be in your system or system32 directory. Including the runtimes will make it impossible for me to make this a downloadable tutorial...so I'm just feeling around to see if its really worth it to include this program with the tute. This dll is one that allows visual basic to use scripting to write files..for instance, once the program makes the mirrored duplicate of your model..it needs to be able to write it back to disk. If you dont have this file, it can't write to disk and you'd get an error. tia BT

If it's integral to the use of your CD and you're worried about universality, you can always include mention of http://www.dll-files.com/ in your packaging. Anyone who doesn't have it can find it here. Take care; Chas

Got it here too, Win98SE c:windowssystem but I only have an Amapi 4.15

kawecki ( ) posted Thu, 12 June 2003 at 2:20 AM

No "scrrun.dll" in my Win95, I have very few visual basic runtimes installed and no applications done with visual basic, with the exception of old Windows 3.1 card games.

Stupidity also evolves!

Yes, XP Pro. Same version as LD. I have your previous Amapi tute on CD. I'd much prefer a downloadable version for the next one, BT. I'm curious, does the new one you're doing get into version 7?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Thu, 12 June 2003 at 5:45 AM

Online Now!

That DLL is the MS Scripting Runtime library, isn't it? It's been through a few versions in its time. I think that it gets installed/updated along with Internet Explorer (but then, what doesn't?). I found a copy in windowssystem32 as well (5.6.0.6626)

Brycetech, you should check on the microsoft web site (I know, it's a horrible maze to navigate), but I'm sure they've got info on .dll's and distributions in a developer section somewhere. As for me, WinXP, latest version, in system32. .dll version 5.6.0.6626

Penguinisto ( ) posted Thu, 12 June 2003 at 6:53 PM

Yep - I got it, err, in my dll emulation directory within Win4Lin, but I, err, don't run Windows. :)

hogwarden ( ) posted Fri, 13 June 2003 at 5:13 AM

Yep, it's here, XPPro. But you can be sure that someone who downloads your tutorial won't have it and the support mails will start flooding in. Make sure you give really easy instructions on how to get the file and install it if it isn't there.... H:)
