Hi,
Are you using WinXP? If so it's apparently something to do with the built-in "messenger service". Try this ...
It seems to work but you have to do it each time you restart, which is rather annoying, as Windows turns it back on by default.
Hope this helps!
Steve
I have Zonealarm Pro which gives you the option of blocking ads on webpages and popups. I too was getting very annoyed with this problem, until I installed Zonealarm. My Pc never runs without it now. And just to be sure, I also have a Trojan hunter program I run every day or so and Adaware, as well as Norton Antivirus. I too live in the UK :-)

Go to Download.com, probably the best place to find free and shareware programs. Including pop up stppers and the aforementioned AdAware. *Puts on his Viking Helmet (tm) and starts to sing;* SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAMAttached Link: http://www.panicware.com
I use PopupStopper from PanicWare... It's easy to use and highly effective. H:)Cybia's right : these are not pop-ups. Pop-ups are HTML pages which appear while you are surfing. Their code is embedded in the page you are visiting. Pop-ups killers mentionned above won't do against them. The messages you get with a "OK" button are network messages (if you click on OK nothing happens). This is a facility that is given to network masters (in a firm for instance) to send a message to all connected users at once. They appear when you are connected, wether you are surfing or not. Actually, it is some firm that scans open connections and send you these messages without you doing anything. If you want to get rid of them, you have 2 options : 1- If you're not in a network (or don't need this facility for your home network), then do as Cybia says. 2- If you're at work, ask the sysop. He/she will know what to do.

Hi I know this is OT but I hoped more people go here than than the OT forum. I have a problem which is getting me down...... Well you all know we get spam (don't start singing yet!) ok so we get it on e-mail, now I get it on my mobile but what is getting me down is Spam Pop UPs when I log on to the net. The sort of thing that says 'to play this game press ok' or 'to contact Saucy Susan hit the OK button!' I have saved several of these as screen prints some have telephone numbers on them to call. Does anyone know what to do about this? I may have posted something about this before if I have I apologise but this is getting me down...I can see one of these days my missus or myself hitting the 'OK' button by mistake (instead of the close X) and getting zapped with a virus. Either that or I'll have some explaining to do about Saucy Susan's services. Lol thanks (sorry about the rant) Dave
