THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Anyone here from England?

draculaz ( ) posted Sat, 14 June 2003 at 11:09 AM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 6:24 AM

Hey, just found out I've been accepted to do my MA in politics over at Nottingham University. Was wondering if anyone knew the region or was from the Albion and willing ot give a few pointers. I've been in England three or four times before, but only London, and while I remember some parts of it, I was pretty young. So, anyone here a true man in tights or what? =D Mihnea

Nottingham is a nice place in a nice part of the world...so far so good!....the most important pointer I can give you is to bring twice as much cash as you think you might need...even then it won't be enough. Get a large apartment to live in and loads of the Bryce Brits will come and visit! Bring plenty of thermal underwear or Lincoln Green tights for the winter. Practice your drinking skills and raise your drinking capacity. Most of all!...have loads of fun! Cheers!

Believe it or not there are still inhabited caves in Nottingham. That must be almost unique! I live in England but I've never visited Nottingham I'm afraid. It's supposed to be great city, have a wonderful time! - Baz

Dont know if it still holds true but when i was a student (a good few years ago) Nottingham was THE unofficial place to go for male students...Main reason? For every 1 male student there was 3 female students :-D Unless your married of course in which case such things wont interest you ;-D

Wonderful place Nottingham. Old buildings, wonderful scenery especially if you get out of town a bit, or down by the river, lots of inspiration for Bryce scenes. I live near London, but used to visit Nottingham regularly. Very friendly people.

I went to Nottingham once, and I really liked the place. A bit too far north for my taste but nice nevertheless. Josselin

Sambucus ( ) posted Sun, 15 June 2003 at 3:26 AM

Oh boy, you are really going to get the opportunity to drink your fellow students under the table in Nottingham. Most nights, probably. :o)

Ive been to Nott's many times, I've got a lot of friends there. Check out Rock City for a night out, lots of booze, birds, bad music & if you dont get laid there....cut it off. For a good night out drinking go to the Old Angel Pub, great food, great music, great pint of Guinness & you might see a good band there too. Grav.

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

Zanny ( ) posted Sun, 15 June 2003 at 2:04 PM

Yeah Rock City is cool, in the early 90s theyre used to be some seriously hot rock chicks in there :)

Sambucus ( ) posted Sun, 15 June 2003 at 2:37 PM

Anytime you fancy a drinking contest, let me know! I live in Burton on Trent, where all the beer is brewed, probably why everyone looks so ugly. Burton is about 40 minutes from Nottingham, so I've been there a few times. Great city, lots of pubs and a good music scene. Some good record shops too selectadisc, and funky monkey are very good, lots of hard to find stuff. Derby is also nearby, and is worth checking out as well for much the same reasons.

My daughter works at the Nottingham Trent University went there to study and never came home.... nice place though, if you like pubs you must visit "The Old Trip to Jerusalem" built under the castle walls and actually into the caves.

you HAVE to visit manchester. capital of the north. good beer, good music, great weather (only place where the rain is good apart from in pine forests) AND i live there. we should arrange a british bryce booze-up (copyrighted!) in manachester because i'm too poor to travel. email me about it. John PS: BT is an evil bastard, use your uni internet connection as much as possible.
