Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
Once you add a percentage of blur you get two lines in front of your camera. What appears between these two lines is in focus. Things at the back of this area and past the second line appear out of focus. Careful, things in front of the first line are also out of focus. You need to adjust your 'focus' amount within the camera settings. This will move those two lines foward and backward. WARNING. Lesser amounts < 100 will shorten your feild of focus.
I'm also struggling with DOF in Vue, and regret that I probably can't help with the intended topic, but wanted to say that I found this image to be very disturbing, even more so because posted on Father's Day. I appreciate strong and meaningful images, so my reaction is a compliment to the thought, feeling, and work that's going into the image. It came as quite a surprise, though, and I don't consider myself to be oversensitive about imagery at all. Not trying to be righteous or make an issue of this, but maybe use of the "violence" tag would have lessened the shock of coming across this image. Again, not wagging any fingers, just a thought. Good luck with the work in progress, Sharen, you're certainly on to something powerful, here. To my eye the image already looks completed.
BillyGoat, I agree with all you said, and don't want to argue my original point because I'm afraid of turning a small thing into too big of a deal. Sharen has nothing to apologize for, and did nothing wrong. My strong reaction came as a real surprise to me, which is why I was compelled to say what I did. I fully support and appreciate the use of art to say things that need to be said, and regret that I may not have expressed myself very well. I've sent an explanation and my own apology to Sharen in IM. Sharen, I don't think you were insensitive at all. I think it was me being uncharacteristically sensitive. :-)
