OK this may be more of a "tech-related" question than a Poser one...but its the only program that i get the error message with and i posted on so many tech support sites and forums and haven't recieved any help so im in a last ditch effort to fix this. I recentlly purchased the Sanctum Art "Legion" model from DAZ3D but when i go to load it i get the "Out of Memory" message and states that i may need to ALLOCATE more memory. i would like to know how i can go about doing this? or should i just step up and buy more memory to fix it? thanks for any help giving Brian i use a P4 2.4ghz 80gig HD 256MB and WinXP and i went through all the sub-folders of poser and removed all the files(objects,Textures, figures ect.) that i don't have any interest using in Poser 4 and i close all running programs that might cause this conflict.

You can't. The "Out of memory" is just Poser's way of saying: "Something is wrong, I dunno which way is up. Bye" When you deleted all objs textures and so on you may very well have deleted something vital for that very file. Poser gives the Out of Memory error typically if it can't find the obj for whatever you're loading. It just puzzles me that it happens to a DAZ item. Their stuff usually installs correctly...

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

well that is true never had a problem with other DAZ items but i don't get the cannot find .obj message and i only deleted the stuff i wouldn't use like prop types such as the ball hat sideburns ect ect or the basic Poser 4hi and lo figures and all the animal figures with corresponding poses, textures, ect. i took all the new freestuff d/l's and purchased files and placed them in a seperate folder(not within Poser 4 itself) then basically gutted the useless stuff then replaced all the new files back into the directories they would be found in normally... so i guess it beats the snot out of me. : ) thanks for the reply Brian

I don't know 'bout PCs or birthin' babies... I use a Mac. I used to get those outta memory messages until I loaded 1 gig of memory and gave Poser most of it. I plan to load even more in anticipation of M3.

ok i found the way to allocate more memory its kind of simple just need to know what values to enter but i will just bite the bullet and drop the hard earned cash to upgrade my system to the max. thanks for all the replies Brian

You cannot increase the allocatable memory on an XP system (it's already set to the max) but you can ensure that you've set up virtual memory to take the maximum advantage. However, in this case the cause is more probably the corruption of the .RSR file in the Geometries folder (NOT the one in the libraries folder), corresponds to the product's object file. Just navigate to the correct Geometries subfolder and delete the .rsr file. Poser should create a new one from the .obj next timem you load the figure/prop. Bill
