Anyone feel free to tell me if this gets annoying. Details on how/etc. are in gallery. Comments/suggestions are welcome. Still a lot of work needed to be done on the branch. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=440356&Start=1&Sectionid=6&filter_genre_id=0&WhatsNew=Yes

The AGr bark looks great. Might want to vary the leaf transparency a bit; it seems like there is the same notch on each leaf. Guess the leaves don't do all that much for me; if you are going to do a final render at this level of closeup, you might want to try to give them more texture. Marc

Wow. That's Anything Grows? not Anything Grooves? I guess I need to look at "grows" a little more closely. Nice work, and Nicholas, don't think it's going to get annoying; help in WIP's is one of the greatest uses for this forum!

That branch that comes from the right of the screen and points back to the left- doesn't look quite right- not really a natural tree form. . . Markd

You have a point there Mark, now that I look at it you are right, the branches should be pretty much going in the same direction. And yeah the leaves need to be varied....its a WIP:) sfdex that was a mistype it was late at night for me...its anything grooves. Brian

No problem... just trying to be helpful. To your original question about these WIP posts, as a WIP poster on this forum myself, I've been wondering if the better place for these WIPS is the yahoo carrara-pics group rather than this forum. I kind of like them in this forum because you can get some discussion on techniques and, frankly, this forum could use a little more traffic to keep it interesting. But I do wonder if others feel they aren't appropriate here... Marc

I think WIP stuff is a very powerfull way of discovering things together. If there would be, like, 54 post every day, it would be a bit harder to keep track of evolving things, but for now it seems like a very good way to see how other people are getting along. There are a lot of tutorials around, but when it involves a post, there is a better sense of how long it takes, as well as a clear view of things that are ditched along the way. Typical factors that will not feature very big in the tutorial kind of stuff that is made after the fact. Keep up the good work-in-progress!

I like the discussion and the WiPs here as well. I like them better than tutorials, even, as there is more a mutual exploring of both dead ends and good guesses -- a typical tutorial is far too linear in structure; as if meant to be followed eyes closed (or at least firmly on the path described). And, yes, this forum could use more activity.

I'm tossing my vote in to WIPs as well. I think they can teach sooo much more then a tutorial. Far too many tuts go, '... then type in 27.66 in the 1st box, 45.88 in the next, and it works. Anything else won't...' THAT doesn't teach me how to do things on my own! Only watching someone as they go along, asking questions, giving suggestions, can teach. Keep 'em coming! :>
