Subject: Disney-Style Toon And Japanese Anime Animation In Poser UPDATE

Since a number of people have started to play with SnowSultan's tutorial (you can find it right on the front page here at Renderosity) more exciting progress has been made: 1. Ockham has developed a Py script to flatten all scene objects in the Z-dimension. He is now working on a more advanced version of this script that do more things. He will post an update tomarrow. 2.lhiannan has posted an amazing Disney-like example below. However the excellent animation example has already maxed out her server and you might not be able to see it now. Hopefully it will be hosted somewhere else for everyone to see. 3. stewer has come up with a very clever solution to parent all scene objects to a virtual Flat camera object which flattens the view in X, Y and Z axis. This is an excellent step forward for larger scale projects. However, this does not yet allow for a dynamic moving camera. More clever Poser Expert ideas are need to solve this problem. Disney-Style Toon And Japanese Anime In Poser. Think about the new possibilities!

Here's a thought for the dynamic camera thing... Why not parent everything to one master object and then parent that the the camera cube. Rotate and move the master object to simulate a dynamic camera, and use the camera cube to do the flattening... (I haven't tried it yet, but I had the thought and wanted to set it down before I forgot it.)

Just tried it, works beautifully. A little bit backwards in execution, but I figure if the camera can't move through the universe, then the universe must be made to move around the camera.

That is quite an idea darken... Happy to see it works and not just a theory... I had tried parenting the camera to the cube, but never thought to move the CUBE instead of the camera... Fantastic... This Z-tooning has been the highlight of my week... Heck, my whole year... (yes, I am a geek)

I knew all the great Poser minds out there could work all these things out. The creative intelligence here is just incredible!

I wasnt' there at the beginning : could you explain what is Stewer's idea of a virtual flat camera object ?

Pretty much you take a cube, make it's z axis point at the camera, and parent everything in the scene to it. Then you can flatten the cube and everything flattens relative to the camera. If you make a sphere and parent everything to it, and then parent the sphere to the camera pointing cube, you can use the sphere to simulate a dynamic camera.

Thanks a lot.
