THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: July WIP

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

I may also add a few clouds. Been tweaking a lot here. Wouldn't mind some feedback, like on what still needs help. Other than the obvious stuff I circled. I've still got to come up with 2 more items to do materials for. I've made the hair, the body color and the towel's materials. The beach sand and umbrella's weren't changed enough from the preset materials for me to feel comfortable saying I made them.

Maybe make a cooler or something. Or a bag kinda thing, you know, stuff people take to the beach. And a bottle of sunscreen, clearly. :D Looks good so far.

Ang25 ( ) posted Sat, 12 July 2003 at 10:45 PM

sounds like a job for Wings :-D I did the umbrellas and sailboat in Wings, not they are very good but the boat is far enough away that it doesn't matter. I am so tired. I have to quit for tonight. Sunscreen, is definately a much in her case, lol. Hey, you just turned 16, are you allowed to look at these kinds of pics, j/k.

much = must

No offense but I am tired of naked poser girls! What is the point of the nudity in this image? Just to have a naked poser girl in it? That is a hack artists trick and Ang I think you can do better! The composition has potential and I like the sandy beach, water, and the little boat. The Umbrellas need some work. The towel looks ok and I like the dudes legs poking out lol. It takes a lot to make a possette look good naked IMHO and only a few artists here can pull it off. So I either challenge you to make it work or Put a swim suit on her.

Baha Vile that is where you are wrong. That's not poser... It's a 3ds model from somewhere. And Ang, perhaps you could use some ideas from my attempts to simulate cloth in bryce here http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=344280&Start=1&Artist=Ornlu&ByArtist=Yes It has a link to the forum topic for the pic included. Plus, I have 299 views on that =P help me break the big 300.

Ok so maybe that is why the pose is so static. Anywho it wasn't entirely the point. Great idea with the cloth though I have really liked what you have done. Didn't you do a tut as well Ornlu?

Hey, Vile! Ang doesn't have poser, therefore she can't put clothes on the girl.....therefore she isn't there to titilate....give Ange a break!

Wow cool, I've gotten my first attack, of sorts. Sorry Vile to have upset you. I also toyed with the idea of making her look more like plastic and having this be a barbie at the beach. And the nudity would work, because anyone who has had little girls will tell you that almost all the barbie dolls end up naked. I did my best to work around the stiffness. Thanks Ornlu, I am having a heck of a time getting the towel and umbrellas to look cloth-like. Unfortunately, if I take out the human figure I lose 2 out of my 3 materials for the July challenge, but maybe I should scrape it and work on something else. At least its not a NVIATWAS. :-p

Ang25 ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 7:19 AM

Dang Ornlu, I'd forgotten about that cloth you did! Unreal, I've copied down as much of the how-to's you gave in the link I have one more question. You boolean the terrains but you don't say whether you use the solid or not solid terrians. I know its probably obvious and I think that one would use solid but I just want to check to be sure. Thanks again for the help. Ang ps Thanks Bryster, I really should have mentioned that this was not poser. Its a freebie from 3dtotal.com. Personally, I think its an excellent model, aside from the stiffness. Oh and the point of nudity in this image (aside from the fact that I don't have a lot of skills yet) is that there are nudist beachs around. I've never been to one, but I would assume they are clean and wholesome places. This is my idea of what one may look like.

Flak ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 7:34 AM

Ang, the umbrella material looks a bit too thick and it needs those strut things that hold it up. I like the rest of it - i.e. footprints, birds, boat.... Nude chick or swimsuit chick - your call.

Nudist beach, clothing optional. :-D hope nobody minds, I didn't clothe the guy under the blue umbrella. Ok, no difference between the two pics I posted except the bikini. Already had a go at redoing the beach towel, but didn't even come close to getting it right. Ornlu help! How do you start in the paint program, how many layers? Do you put in several shades of grey? etc. Then I'll be off to Wings to try to get those thingies that hold up umbrellas put in. Maybe someday, I'll get to work on Materials in the DTE LOL. Thanks everybody, hope I can make this work. Ang

Ornlu ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 9:31 AM

=P, it's actually just a non solid terrain, believe it or not, It has no "thickness" to it. Best to use photoshop to simulate the waving. I think I pieced it together in blender 3d after I posted that in the gallery, so the exported terrains were transformed into a 3ds eventually, perhaps I can put it in freestuff (although it's 50 megs or so =/)

Ornlu ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 9:33 AM

The thing is though, for the image you are doing, you don't need multiple terrains, you could do it with just one, Just practice with the smudge/blur tool in photoshop to get some nice foldy rolly cloth going. The only reason I had to do multiple terrains was because of the different slopes , that image has 4 terrains I believe.

Maybe if you just used Wings or something to MODEL a towel?

brholte ( ) posted Sun, 13 July 2003 at 5:31 PM

Nice scene arrangement. I agree, pretty much, with everything said above. Just add a few things here and there (Beach things). like a cooler, suntan lotion, blah blah blah,,, its all been said already so I'll stop...lol.. Its a really nice start. I also think that when it's finished, tweaking the lighting a little would be usefull. On a bright, sunny, cloudless day, I think the shadows would be a little softer maybe??? and maybe last but not least, increase the highlights where the sunlight hits. Probobly best done in photoshop.....not that someone who spends a lot of time in a submarine would know anything about sunlight...lol can't wait to see the finished product!! brholte (Benjamin Ross Holte)
