first, what should i expect from the beginning? what known problems might i have? what comes in the box? secondly, do x-frog plants work in vue? they probably import, but can they be animated like normal? and finally... what other vue forums are out there? vue seems like a great alternative to bryce, but bryce seems to have a ton more followers out there. why? thanks! ren

First, welcome, you are about to enter a great great place. Second, make sure you update your copy of Vue to the latest updates (find out which you need at e-onsoftware's site) Third, my advice is play first! Fourth, I don't know about xfrog, but I think it imports alright. Fifth, look above this forum to find other links. Sharen (ps: we have free models you can use in Vue)

Bryce has a bigger following because it's a older program. Bryce was the first affordable 3d app that had a window interface. Before that it was all text. >p as in PovRay.

ah... i dig. i had bryce 4 and it was too slow and the renders weren't as good as i'd hoped. i do better with the vue 4 demo, so i can't wait for the whole program to come in the mail. i have a full screenplay written and i'd like to use vue to try a few scenes in it. are there any movies made with vue available for download? i hear that vue is great for animation but the only animation i see with it is on the e-on website. have any of you used it for a short film yet?

Hi ren, welcome to Vue! Check the link to the Backroom in the Vue banner. You'll find info on Vue basics tutorials which will help you get used to the functions and editors in Vue, and info on importing XFrog plants to Vue. As far as other Vue forums, you may want to cruise the other 3D sits like 3D Commune to find them. But in my experience, the folks here are friendly and very helpful.

Hi, Xfrog plants will import, but they cannot carry animations. Only plugins for highend stuff like Maya last time I looked! Don't know if they have plans to write anything, perhaps if we hassle them a little!!

You could experience the OpenGL glitch. It happens with some PC configurations. Most users end-up turning off OpenGL when the problem occurs, but you can also revert your nVidia-made video drivers.

How do you know if you're experiencing the problem? If you have OpenGL turned on and get a grey background in your preview panes or can't display shaded objects in the preview panes, then you have the problem.

Also if you're looking for movies created in Vue, Phoul has done some great work. You can see a lot of stuff that uses a combination of Poser, Vue and Mover at his site (link above). Frank
