Subject: RDS and MacOS 9.04

bbhack ( ) posted Thu, 29 June 2000 at 1:12 AM · edited Sun, 12 January 2025 at 11:24 PM

I just installed RDS 5.5 on a PowerBook G3 running OS 9. On startup, RDS locks up while "Loading modules". Metacreations apparently has had a patch that fixes this but I can't get to it at their site (I'm denied access to the download site!) and can't find it anywhere else. Anyone using RDS 5.5 with MacOS 9 successfully? I really rather not go back to 8.6. Any suggestions? Bela

I use RDS 5.5 with OS 9.04, but you do indeed need the .01 patch which is specifically for OS 9 compatibility. Did you try going to MC's ftp site? ftp://ftp.metacreations.com/pub/Applications/ If you cannot get to it still, then email me and I can see about sending it to you. I don't know how legal that is but I'm fed up with MC actions regarding these products and years of loyal customers.

Thanks! I got the .01 patch where you pointed me and it works fine. I agree with you re MetaCreations' abandonment of what must be a rather large installed base. They could at least keep their web site's support links active, especially for products not yet adopted by someone else. I can't imagine that our good will isn't worth the minor amount of work (if any work at all) involved. I'm not planning on being a big advocate of metastream! Thanks again, Bela
