Subject: shareware 'Poser-like' software

Does anybody know of any freeware/shareware that has basic tools for easily posing human figures? I'm just looking for drawing/perspective reference, so I don't need shaders/renders/etc. And/or are there any demo versions of poser available where I could just take screen-shots to get this sort of imagery? thanks! -r

Attached Link: http://www.curiouslabs.com/

go to the curious labs website and click on the "downloads" button. they do have a trial of Poser 4. However, you can't save anything, and you can't use anything but the basic model.....I tried it first before I bought it, and lol, I bought it so I could see what it could do, as I couldn't really find out with the trial version. I'm not sure of any other programs, or free/shareware that does that, but I'll keep looking! shadow

WARNING: Using poser may cause a severe addiction to the program, and severe loss of income in the Marketplace.

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

addendum to warning: Using poser has been known to ruin the social life as well as the bank balance.

Don't know where you are Ron but here in the UK on of the national computermags has P3 going as a cover disk.

Poser 3 has been given away on a lot of computer mags, I remember at least three German magazines that were doing that. Try to get one of those issues, it's the cheapest way to get started with Poser.

Caveat: The Poser 3 installation from 3DWorld comes with a Vicky model which cannot be textured correctly (Poser 3 doesn't support multiple maps for one figure), and because it doesn't support transparency either, her eyeballs will appear blank. Play with the default Poser 3 figures instead and you'll be fine.

Actually, you can use the lo-res victoria in Poser3 via a MAT pose, providing you change the .jpg textures to either .bmp or .tif files. The supplied textures sre very small, and you would also have to move the eye texture on the map to the eyeball area so that it would show up (area shown on this template). ![eyeball_template.jpg](http://www.thedarkzone.freeserve.co.uk/eyeball_template.jpg) I have a MAT pose set up for lo-res Vic in Poser3 using .bmp textures at [MAT file](http://www.thedarkzone.freeserve.co.uk/MAT_file.zip) Here's a pic of the lo-res Victoria rendered in Poser3 following these instructions.

MAT poses work in Poser 3? The mind boggles.
