Subject: Poser 4 Without Pro Pack

**I've been using Poser 4 without the pro pack and every time i try to load a morph into my V3 a box comes up with an error of "newer version number than expected" about six times before it loads, will the pro pack stop that or am i going to have to re-install Poser?

Thank You

Its just an indication that the file was saved in a later version of Poser than the one that you are using. Providing that it works OK there is nothing to worry about.

If the product was made for Pro then when you upgrade then you will not have click on all those boxes. The same goes for Poser 5 products if used in Pro Pack you get all the boxes again but when you get 5 they go away. Since Pro Pack is an upgrade you will not lose previous files install.

Or you can just take the .cr2 into a text editor and change the version number to 4.0 and it will get rid of those annoying boxes.

A couple of the V3 morphs were saved that way, it is a perfect example of why people who create Poser content should always use Poser 4!

What Jim said. These error messages indicate a lack of thought on the part of some merchants. Anyone selling a product should always ensure that it will work in all versions of poser. And the easiest way to do that is use the lowest common denominator, which is poser 4. In fact, DAZ insist that version numbers should be no higher than 4.0 for brokered products. It's a small thing, but as you've no doubt found, quite annoying. As for Freestuff.... well, it's free, so I suppose we shouldn't be too ungrateful. mac

It also might be that you have never installed any patches to Poser 4. The version numbers in files are usually quite specific and someone with a patched Poser 4 will generate files that show a later version. It is recommended that all Poser 4 users install the patch. It's available at curios labs site.

Well spit, the patch should definitely be installed, but it won't change the version of poser. Installing all the 4.03 patches will still generate a 'version 4.01' file. It was only Pro Pack which started generating version 4.2. mac
