I tried using the anistropic node like stewer suggested - and I tried toning down some values to get rid of the potato chip skin effect that accomapnies some bump effects - oh, and plugged in the Curious Hi-Res Eyes. I kinda like the effect I've gotten, but it seems real, but doesn't at the same time. The area around her forehead, eyes, cheek and some of her nose look real - but everything else looks kinda fake to me. I dunno.

Are you bluging your bump into bump or displacement? I have found displacement works much better because it actualy displaces instead of simulating it. This is better for edges where simulation is going to still appear smoth.

It's the eyes that make it look fake. Mostly the glowing whites of the eye.

Real eyes look a darker gray tone with white glossy highlights.

I can't get in either. That's that same forum software that PoserPros and 3-D Arena use, I've been told that for me it's the way earthlink (my ISP) caches IPs so I just can't use those places :*(

I tried the displacement map thingie and fixed the eyes... but still...human eyes never have that much shadow. Anyway, it's about the skin! :)

That's the way Real Eyes are supposed to look-- it works for some lighting situations, I found traveler's Eyez over at Rdna much better and they have fits for everyone. Blackhearted's Blackeyes also look much more real. The skin looks terrific on the last render. Emily

EmpressZario; The new skin looks good :) Share the P5 Material setting with us? PabloS; I can get in (http://mec4d.com/ here from Germany)! What browser did you use? Older Netscape version make trouble, I use IE. Mazak

Regarding the website.. I use I.E. 5.5 and without any problems I.E. 6.+ have to many Bucks..sure to check your Java enable setting.. I change the extensions for the Netscape and people don't have a big problems now.. and use for forums http://forums... http://gallery... and not http://www.forums that are subdomains that don't use www.. as Mazak wrote above.. EmpressZario your setting for the skin looks great in the first render... Cath

Like to give a warning on using Displacement. It does take a bit more resources to render. If you get carried away with the settings, perhaps turning it up higher than 1 you will notice a much larger render time. Add this with a detailed model and ... you get the picture. On one render I had the setting up to 5 and it took a good hour for the render bar to move past the n in rendering shadow. So be judicious with the setting. As regards your texture, be aware that realism includes irregularities. The smoother and more uniform the skin the less real it looks, especially on closeup. Wrinkles and freckles all make the skin a beautiful individual work of art. Little translucent hair follicle protrude from the skin making little bump which create grater sensitivity. So to me at least these things make the skin more appealing and sensual. Take a moment to look at the underside of the forearm. Even there you will see small hairs. Now gently trace your fingertips lightly down this skin. Notice the feeling. That's what makes the skin so sensuous and appealing and, that's what makes a sensuous skin texture. Now you don't need to get that detailed. Give a representation of some degree where the imagination can fill in all the subconscious intricacies.
