My poser file keeps corrupting its self, whats the best way to fix this as I have one save before it happens. As the face detoriates into spikes, has the latest patch got bugs in it? Gunbuster

heyas; what poser file is corrupting itself? it is always best to make a backup of your poser.rsr file, and/or write protect it to prevent it from getting loopy. if a library or pz3 file is re-opening strangely... i've never seen anything that makes the face spiky. can you post a picture of the corrupted face? :) one thing that does happen is the 'geom offset' thingy in the pz3 gets set to something odd. this makes your figures stretch out into crazy melted-plastic dali shapes. you can fix that by editing the last line in the file. it should be set to 0,0,0 (er, i think. the cr2 files have a different number. at any rate, check an uncorrupted saved file and copy the offset setting.)

And the patch seems (for me) to have taken care of the loopy poser.rsr thing. Anyone still getting this problem post patch?

I'm starting to wonder just how sensitive Poser might be to whatever else someone has on their computer. All these problems...all very different. I have had no trouble with my Poser installation, and I don't think I have the patch installed right...in any event, I've been using it without the patch for two months now, also with no troubles. Can't say I ever had a figure "spike", either in the cr2 or rsr... Mike

It does sound very much like a problem with the offset geometry. Is it the same file every time, or is it all the files? If it is the same file all the time (but none of the others), check the offset in the CR2. If it's all of your files, then a re-think as to the cause of the problem is needed. I've had no problems post-patch, and the RSR corrupting itself seems to have gone away. Paul

I seem to have cured the problem by convertering my facial magnets to morph targets, no more probs, just seems that when the morph targets are written to file they could clash against each other and corrupt the geometry file, as the face detoraited more on a second save when I tested it. Maybe a sitch off deformers and repair model command might be in order in Poser5 or a more rubust file system. Gunbuster P.S. I do have the patch
