I think for your purposes The Canon Coolpix 3000 (well, the onewith themedium resolution in Pixels) could work. I am really satisfied of my Canon IXUS 400 but what I do with it is very simple and I have no ideaif it could work for you (plus it costs now around 600 dollars I think). wait for better advices here though... I ma not really an expert in equipment (I am no expert in anything to be honest ;)) Good luck :)

dpreview has the most comprehensive reviews of digital cameras online that I know of...as far as macro shots go, I believe the Nikon Coolpix range have a good name for being able to get VERY close to the subject. good luck with your choice! :-)>Hi Lory, I do a lot of photography anything from landscapes and nature to macro (closeup) and also my own textures..and I would highly recommend the Fuji FinePix 2800Zoom...it has a 6x zoom on it and for under 500 dollars it would be hard to beat the quality of the pictures this camera is capable of. It also has a nice 1.8" LCD monitor and is easy to learn. I am very happy with my camera, the quality of work it does amazes me.
Hummm... I agree with PunkClown and FearaJinx. Nikon has a nice range of cameras. Good quality and very eclectic models. Less eclectic but a little better electronics in Kodak... Very good are Canon cameras but only the costier compact models. I don't like Fuji and Olympus. Olympus has good lenses but electronics suks... Fuji has horrid lenses and electronics and the overall manifacture is less reliable...

Ok, the things are like this, I want to buy a digital camera, not very expensive... around 400$. But I want a camera capable of taking very detailed shots of little things, skin parts, small flowers, for texturing 3D objects. I need to get clear images getting very close to the object I am taking pictures of. Could you suggest me a producer or some qualities I shouud look for, digital zoom, optic zoom, megapixels, mazimum resoultion, anything that can help me :) I am waiting for your advices. Thank you in advance!!
