Is someone with prerelease Carrara 3 can give some details about new features of vertex modeller and how the new selection mode is ?Thanks

Selection mode is muchly improved. The cursor will indicate if you're over a point(vertex), polyline or polygon. You can even set which kind of selection you want (of those three). Shift, of course, will extend your selection. You can "save" selections as selections(not as named polys). You cannot 'name' the selections though, and have to set how many saved selections you want in the prefs for the VM. The add point tool is greatly improved, it has an option to automatically link all created points -- big timesaver that! When adding points to an polyline, the cursor will indicate if your cursor is 1/3, 1/4 or 1/2 in the line itself. The point will "jump" to the nearest one when you click. You can disable that feature by adjusting the options in the Property pallette/tray. All the tools (scale, rotate, selection, add point) have options now in the property tray that you can use to do things that were once possible only via dialog boxes. One thing I would do, when creating symetrical models, is to select the polylines along the "center" of the model and set the scaling on the "Y" axis to zero. Shift-command-S was the keyboard command in C2 that would bring up a dialog and I would type in "0" in the y-axis text box and then okay. Now, in C3, I can do the same keyboard shortcut, but that selects the resize tool and then in the property tray I can type in zero in the y-axis text box there. There's just so many "little" things in the VM for C3 that just make sense. The rotate tool actually works, will rotate around the selected vertex(ies) or Polys in a more reliable manner. Haven't quite sussed out the Extrusion tool, but again, that's the learning curve. The VM is so much easier and productive in C3 that my modeling speed has more than doubled in C3 (which may be due to me just "getting" the progam better, or not). Hope this answers your question.

Apart from all the improvements MrMongo mentioned, one of the best improvements in the Carrara 3 vertex modeler is that every time you select a vertex, a line or a polygon, you don't automatically move it like in Carrara 2. This was exasperating to say the least.

One more thing I fergot, in addition to what ViniVidiVinci said, is that in the final release of C3 (coming in Sept.) is that the Zoom is fixed -- no longer will it zoom into ridiculous amounts (like 3456%, for example) when you click!

I don't know, don't trust those critters. Booleans, that is. For me, I've found that if I'm a bit creative in my modeling, I never really had a need to use them. ymmv.
