An excellent idea! And a very generous one. Thank you!

I like the idea a lot. Free's up the base for concentrating on the creation. Could you do a male base mesh? Give a inch we all take a mile huh? haha! Thanks for your generosity and the work that you have done, this will help a lot.

pdxjims ( ) posted Wed, 20 August 2003 at 7:52 PM

Boy MachineClaw! An inch? A mile? If Phil is kind enough to make us a male version, he won't know what size to give him, you give a lot of range! I can't believe I just typed that. But a male version would be nice. It doesn't need genitalia (though it would be nice). On the other hand, any mesh is good mesh! And it'd be a challenge to make a man outta it!

I think you've got a great idea Phil.

Great idea... this bypasses a very tedious part of modelling. Also want to point out that PoserStyle has something in their free section similar to this for making V3, Don and Judy clothes.

And Thip has a version of his quicksuit, royalty free, for sale cheap at Renderotica. It's a great place to start making cloths mor M2 and V2.

Tempting... I could live with the triangles, but the 5 (and more?) sided polys are leaving me on the fence for now. Cool idea though... I'm sure you'll do well with it.

This is not a figure to be used in Poser, it is a control mesh to be subdivided or smoothed in your 3D modeling application. The resulting high resolution model will contain polygons with the number of sides (usually 4) that you set in your modeling preferences.

The package includes OBJ, Truespace COB and 3D Studio MAX files. The image above is of the model with one level of suddivision.

Spanki ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 11:50 AM

Sorry, I should have been more clear... I understood that it was to be subdivided. I use C4D, which only deals with 3 or 4 sided polys. When it sees more than that, it breaks them up into smaller ones (part of the loading process)... and I just wasn't sure how 'well' it would do that (I'm kinda picky about such things ;).

OK yes, with you. Isn't text communication a thing of beauty :)

If you'd like to live dangerously and hawk the family silver you can see first hand by going to my site and picking it up for $1.99 . Its this week's "Almost Freestuff"

Ahh! That makes all the difference - I think you just shoved me off the fence ;). Just to be clarify, it's a bargain at the full price you're asking as well.

Almost seems too good to be true. What I'd really want is a male base model. Do you think that might be a possibility in the futrue?

Just in case you were curious, here's what the mesh looks like on import to C4D... it breaks up the n-gons kinda goofy in places, but nothing that can't be fixed. Thanks again. - Keith

Damn. Missed the "Has Phil had a full-frontal labotomy" pricing. Will have to think about it now instead of just being lazy. Meanwhile, have you tried a Cinema4D plugin for Poser/.OBJ files from http://www.c4d.de/downloads_40_1.php3 ? I've no idea if it would be better for Phil's model, but it's gotta be worth a try (free). The Cinema 4D 6 & 7 version seems incredibly fast compared to the earlier version plugin.
