The issue of textures looking pixelated in large renders is due to the original dimension of the texture itself. I assume if your textures are 9Mb each they are of a fair size, dimension-wise? Are your textures uncompressed images? If so, they are most likely around 2000x3000 pixels. That should be decent for the size you are rendering. Also, try a test render with no d.o.f., see if there is any change. Hard to be more specific without seein the pic firsthand. AgentSmith

I've been trying to to the tagliatelle of the gods tutorial and some of the renders have been ok and some have not. The ps files are not compressed and the pixelation effect can be seen on screen in Bryce which kind of leads me to the depth of field theory. My camera may be too close to the cube. The only other thing I come up with is perhaps the original photoshop images may need to be square rather than rectangular to better fit the cube dimension. Mivan
Mivan, I think you've probably cracked it with regards aspect ratio of the images being mapped onto the cube. As said earlier in the thread, Bryce doesn't actually set the dpi of an image unless you're rendering to disk. any other time just workout size using print size(inches) x DPI and setting the resolution to the calculated values. I think BryceTech has an online calculator on his tut pages:-). Graham

I've used the KPT fraxflame to create the fractals, and then brought them into bryce, mapped to the cube with no pixelation at all....this is really strange, but try the suggestions above see if they help. I have been trying to create images in Bryce by mapping different fractal images to a cube as materials. Each imported pic file is about 9 megs. When I find one I like and render the image I would like to create a finished product of 100ppi at a size of 16X20 inches. My rendered images display some very smooth areas and also some that appear to be pixelated. Since I have set render size to larger than 16X20 in order to resize to a 100ppi image in photoshop to compensate for the 72ppi Bryce limit I am now wondering if pixelation is a function of larger renders in Bryce or it is due to a depth of field situation. The render documentation window is set for superfine but the problem continues. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. Mivan
