Subject: New Forums

There has been a lot of complaints in the Poser forum that there are threads that simply should not be posted there. (Ironically, the complaint threads should have been posted here instead of in the poser forum as well.) Here are the suggested forums so far: 1. A freestuff forum to allude to new free items that will be available on this site and others. 2. A WIP forum to post images that are still being worked on and/or models/items that might possibly be sold later. It has been suggested that technical help be referred to the Poser Technical forum. It remains to be seen what the Poser forum would actually consist of if all of these changes are made.

Also copyright issues have been asked to stay in the copyright forum. Possibly a gallery forum for voting AOM and discussing issues about the gallery.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 4:28 PM

Maybe two WIP forums. One for merchants and the other for images?

Spit ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 4:39 PM

ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHH. TOO many forums as is. I don't have a problem in general with what's being posted in the Poser forum. I DO have a problem with threads where everyone starts arguing that the thread should be moved. And it's usually the same people complaining over and over. If people would just move on and keep their traps shut, the threads wouldn't become overwhelming and out of control and take up a whole page.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 4:56 PM

I argee that people should stay on topic for a thread and let the monitors decide where the thread should be.

do you remember the time that in the Free section you have so much stuff that not on one website on the Net and almost everything for Poser.. a renders that explain what to do..we learn the first steps here how to use this software but now everything here turn in advertising.. every image includes advertising or credits to a commercial products.. every render show a products with commercial description .. look on the TOP 20 for a small example.. how more products included so high the vote.. a big business for us all .. I do well credits to let know the people what I used but never tell where you can got this under my renders.. so why a problem like this in Poser Forum.. we have to start with galleries.. don't allow any commercial credits.. show the art in place of advertising banners in format of A4.. and I talk about myself too.. but if this bother you about one preview WIP in Poser forum what I can say about all the Galleries? or we do this as is or we do this not.. so 100% for the business or nothing.. This Girl was working hard for many months and expected a nice comments for own idea and hard work.. this made me sad again..

Personally, I don't mind have a problem with WIP being in the Poser forum for both images and models. Obviously some members do. What bothers me is that you have threads like Neftis's latest preview thread and people won't stay on topic because they make a big deal about where she posted it. Neftis put a lot of time in Elle and she looks great. But half the thread is about what forum it should be in and not in response to the figure. This thread is just a condensed version of what some other members have suggested. It is posted here so that people will stay on topic in the Poser forum and stop harrassing fellow members.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 5:54 PM

Maybe its an issue of the fact we need less forums so that people stop getting territorial and stay on topic.

Mec4D ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2003 at 7:14 PM

territorial? no ...this is like a club or you are welcome in or not.. that what get about and nothing more.. I guess I have to buy Koshini :ironic: ..LOL

It really doesn't bother me to see commercial or WIP products in the Poser forum..I read the Product forum too...that's my first stop. I always like to see who has come up with something new and different. I likethe idea of a WIP forum though, not specifically for products, or even for Poser releated. For Works In Progress. So we cabn show off step by step, and ask questions, get and give feedback...hmmm; that sounds just like what the other program related forums are for >^_~

Mec4D ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 2:32 AM

Neftis WIP topic was moved to the Product Showcase and she removed own post.. when we get this way with the partners then all go away from here.. and the Poser forum is full everyday with Koshini post and new other things.. when all wip topics needed to move then all and not ..one can well and other can't.. it is not correct.

And the sad thing is that the people who kept complaining about the placement of the thread never bothered to come to this forum to make their opinions known. Instead they decided to beat down Neftis when she was trying to get feedback on her project. If this attitude continues we're going to see a lot of content providers make a mass exodus out of this community.

Mec4D ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 3:11 AM

this get not about WIP Jeremy..exact as you said.. but nobody will hear us here so this topic is death too.. LOL :) and I don't go to post any images in the Poser forum.. because everything I touch is always commercial so I can't share anyhting what I do with anybody in the public forums of Poser .. this really sucks

Ha! You know what might be a good idea, for those of us who have the exact problem you state here Cath? Any merchant posting anything in the Poser forum other than a question or an answer is suspect. I rarely post to the galleries anymore. I put my images in my own galleries, and my works in progress, if I choose to share them, go in my journal. It's informal, and not attached to my site. I don't sell anything beyond the occasional Ebay item, so it can't be considered commercial, and as my journal, it's about as personal as you can get. I find I actually get a lot more honest detailed feedback from the folks on my friends list of my journal, than in the forums. If a person who also happens to be a merchant always links to their site, all people ever see of them is the commercial aspect. My journal has a link to my site, but it is not about me as a merchant, it is about me as a person and an artist. Maybe people seeing a link to a personal page will make us people who happen to be merchants seem more like real people to those that have so many complaints. Maybe they will see that we are not just out there looking for new ways to grab their dollars, but are honestly passionate about the work that we do.

Mec4D ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 12:36 PM

you are right Casey.. but when I post anything in poser gallery I do this because I ma excited about my work and want to share.. not always I sell what I do.. look how many things I show and never finished for sale.. then I get messages why I show things that I can't sell.. I do also for lol not only for the dollars.. We was asked to come here a long time ago and create this little place for new users but now this turn in a hell and fight for a dollars and nothing more.. I am here for years and see everyday what is going on and said never anything.. no time to waste but now is enough.. I go on Hunting and will do the same with all commercial topics wips or what ever.. you can Bite I do this.. here a copy I posted in the last topic by Nef that BTW was yesterday very under the norm of bad feelings and sadness.. I am mad.. --------------- Dear ernyoka1.." commercial free" I see more that 10 topics with commercial things per day in Poser and nobody get to post 80 messages or more about.. Poser forum is to learn, ask questions and get the answer regarding poser self.... all things as advertising have to go off but I mean all..I decided to not post anything too.. not freebies ( that advertise my own website and get more traffic for free) no Wips with anything fee or commercial..so I expect also from all other to do the same. When I need advertising I have to pay for the banner above so maybe other start to do the same. THIS MAKE NOT SENSE or you have to forbidden posting images in this Poser forum of Victoria Michael Koshini and all other stuff that is commercial!!!!!!! and not a free found on the internet or as standard in Poser4 or 5.

Cath, you are so right. I think a lot of content providers are associated with the products they produce. Sometimes its assumed that everything these providers work on will be sold. So if they show a WIP, its assumed to be an advertisement even if the product is far from finished. I can see where it is near impossible to get feedback to work on your projects. No one complained about images of the Millennium cat in the Poser forum and it just came out. They don't view that as advertising. (Note, I have no problem with the Millennium cat being in the Poser forum.) Some members here are so stuck on the idea that things need to be equal that they are turning other members off.

Mec4D ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2003 at 1:06 PM

exact.. but now I go on Hunting for commercial topics.. now is really over with all the mess.. I can't so all can't too no matter friend or not rules are rules for all here and I will do exact what they all request..

iLLusion.. look everyone talk about new Millenium Cat and post there new images and what I got rtoday what I purchased today.. that are just advertising .. I am right or not..Maybe I don't wish to see this to? LOL this not bother me at all I just don't read this topics.. but when people start to attack me or my friends about posted preview renders of something that isstill not a product then I am off from this place.. I watch for years the all advertising topics around here.. when I go to show what I work on and show my poser renders then I get direct a note.. but when somebody show a new millenium Cat in render that is not a advertising? but nobody is mad about a Cat and not enough write reply too.. tell me what this is for a place.. I have one idea.. what about a child section.. with a URL direct from the Poser Forum above to WIP and Work in Progress this will separate everything and still on the same way when somebody don't like Wips's then don't need to click the URL.. so we stay with one forum one mother and 2 children and all will happy for sure.. Admin Mod... when you read this please think about because this situation don't change anything right now or you like to keep the fire then do nothing..

Just came across this thread. You know, Some places I'm blamed for being the one that chased Neftis away. It is utterly nonsense. I ASKED if the thread belonged in PS, that's all. I love Neftis' work and I am sad to see her leave like that. According to the guidelines you are allowed to post pictures and praise of products, as long as you're not the creator. For instance I can (and did too) post lots of pictures of Mr Bunny, telling everybody what a cute character that is. But Neftis can't do it. That's the rules. I didn't make them, but if they're there, they MUST be equal for all.

I don't know about a freestuff forum. Maybe. I'll just spectate on that. As for a WIP forum, I think it would get confusing for folks who want to post a poser WIP for feedback. To me, that's the shining star in Bryce... folks post their WIP's and get the right feedback and make changes and yada yada and they LEARN. I would love to see more image WIP's in the Poser forum. The monthly challenge is designed to get folks in the habit of rendering on a theme that everyone else is rendering on so that they can learn from one another. And along with that, a WIP in forum in preparation for the challenge seems very appropriate to help with the learning. So, I would advocate for the WIP's of images to stay in the main forum and just use the product showcase for that sort of thing. My two cents.
