I forgot the name of it, but one set of textures for V3 has the highlights included on the maps. These are to be rendered with global light sets that usually don't give highlights. If you wish to render with light sets other than global, then the other set of textures would be what you want...they don't have built-in highlights.
I despise painted on highlights. They look fake. Why have an ultra high-res 6000 by 6000 pixel texture made from real skin phiotographs all neatly pieced together and then ruin it by little white spots where no white spots ought to be? If the scene light is coming from the top or rear or side or anywhere other than slightly upper front deer-in-the-headlights, the rendering is going to scream fake because the highlights don't match the light source. If you can only place the lights in one spot to match the painted-on highlights, you are limiting your art to product shots. If you have to go into PhotoShop and remove all the stupid white spots from the eyes, lips, fingernails, and replace them with texture to match the rest of the body part, you might as well paint your own texture while you are at it. From the Product page: "The Highlight and contour maps were designed with a very specific look in mind. Highlights have been preserved in the maps in order to compensate for certain renderers that do not accurately represent specular effects. They are useful in global lighting situations or when you are wanting a simple solution to lighting your Vicki 3 character.[..]" It is clearly mentioned that the highlights are on the map. There is another set of maps - Victoria 3.0 Universal Texture Maps - that is made without HighLights.

If you bought them within 30 days you could ask for a refund. DAZ has a 30 day money-back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with an item you bought. Maybe you could talk with them about it and get the other textures instead.

sargebear, don't you recognise a typo when you see it? BTW, you're not a merit scholar yourself. "it isn't spell phiotographs. and i think the..." There are two errors in the above line "it isn't spell" should be be 'it isn't spelled' and 'and i think' lower case 'i' is incorrect, "I" is the world's shortest word and is ALWAYS upper case. If you're going to nitpick spelling be prepared to get picked on in return
Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.
ahh, it was a pay back for her sticking her foot in her mouth before. thats all, i could really care less what she has to say, you too ought to get hitched and write a book on nitpicking peoples faults. J/K,, that is if you can write one with out correcting it. at least i know i'm not the only one who get corrected. remember there is a writers fourm, go read and do the corrections there. this is a a Poser fourm. or didn't you notice? i was making a joke Mr. Tuna. and you know what they say if you can't take a joke.
Charlie_Tuna, I was ignoring him, since he isn't worth the energy. Vicious little rats aren't edible according to my wise old cat, even if they wriggle and squeal when pounced upon. I do make typing errors: most of them get caught before posting, others don't. (Between the migraine and the dyslexia, my raw typing is replete with errors, but I care enough to try to correct them.) If he mistakes a typing error (fingers slipping off keys) for a spelling error, he has never learned to distinguish, and never will. sargebear, "Pay back"? Don't you mean retribution? Reprisal? Retaliation? Revenge? Perhaps those words have too many syllables for you. "Sticking her foot in her mouth" is not quite the right phrase. If you wish to use feet as a source for your verbal imagery, may I respectfully suggest "tripping over a clod" as being quite a bit more accurate. Language is an art, just as much as is any other creative medium. It has rules which may be broken best by those who recognize and understand them. Words and images can be separated into discreet compartments, but when allowed to cohabit yield a richly-textured wealth as glittering as anything in Croesus' treasury. Some of those ideas may even use Poser during their migration from thought to expression. Finally, I'm honest and don't use j/k either to camouflage my annoyance or to unmask my private amusement.
