I have heard a zillion times about daz studio and what is it? can u please solve this intrigue to my stupid mind, by the way, if it is a program it will be sold by stores or or by the net?

It's a rendering/modelling/you name it program that Daz is working on, to complement/supplement/replace Poser, or not..;) go to their web site, and look for it in the news section, I believe..
Daz Studio will be available..uh...oh..uh..4th quarter this year..the first version was/was not save disabled..but more plugins would be added to successive versions, to add functionality. The screen shots they give look pretty good, and best of all, the first few versions will be free.. until they get a million copies out there..and who knows what happens then. Now if you're as confused as the rest of us..you're in good company..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

It is the Holy Grail of Poserland, which used to be Poser 5 but now is Daz Studio...that software that will be everything to everyone, solve everyone's graphic creation problems, make brilliant artists of us all, and bring the art world to its knees in awe of us. Or, in other words, an unreleased product that people speculate endlessly about. Bookmark the Daz site...it will tell all....eventually.

The link would help.

Wow, I guess we better get cracking on that Grail function...

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 4:00 PM

Did I mention it will solve the energy problem, bring world peace, and run for governor of California?

MallenLane ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 4:03 PM

Hmm.... no problem.. I think we already have the Governor AI function implemented well enough to debate Davis. The other two might take some more time.

It will also clean the cat poop out of the tray, walk the dog, entertain the kids, feed the goldfish and give you the best, wildest sex you ever had.

The Recreational Intimacy Therapist ( or RIT) will be a addon module.. sorry.

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 4:08 PM

Hmmm...would that be a Platinum Club item?

MallenLane ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 4:10 PM

No it would probably be a third party utility. ;)

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2003 at 4:12 PM

I'm reserving mine now. :D When they say Daz Studio will be fully functional, they mean it!!!

What is known basically is that "DAZ|Studio" is a program which will allow the DAZ figures to be put into images. What is also known is that it is not "Poser", but a separate application. It may be competitive or cooperative, that is for the future. However, it IS separate, and when the time comes, this community will divide. People who use "Bryce" may also use "Vue D'Esprit". Some artists only have one or the other program. Most of us use the tool for the job... IF we can afford it. (How many of you have a paint can opener and how many just use a screwdriver? How many know that there IS a paint can opener?) The expense is not just the initial purchase money, and the costs of all the plug-ins, figures, what-have-you, but perhaps more importantly, the time to learn an application. There were wish lists a-plenty in this Forum before Poser 5 was released. A good many of the people here said that they wanted flexible cloth and strand-based hair and real materials and all the goodies of the high-end applications at a hobbyist price... and then screamed bloody murder when they discovered that they'd actually have to learn how to use such an application, too. The Materials Room alone was a major step up in complexity. By being modular, DAZ can give away the basic rendering program to everybody who just wants to click and the naked Vicky is posed on her tippy-toes against a portrait drop... and sell the add-ons for anybody who wants to do anything more such as animation or morphing or whatever, depending upon consumer demand. For example, if there was a demand to adjust texture on the fly as in MetaCreation's "Detailer", DAZ would probably do that, but most people just want to apply a store-bought texture. Why else would a product come with 16 lipstick colors taking up slots in the Pose folder? The DAZ application will fill a niche, and ought to be extremely successful. Carolly

There are ways to change that, I've heard. You can always get them from Daz. :) Carolly is right, of course. I'll stop being silly now.
