Most of the images in the Poser gallery are very predictable, but I came across this French artist that uses a very strong Dali influence....different..interesting. That's all SWAMP

This is terrific art. Some of the best Poser stuff I've seen and they have those cool French titles that I can't understand that make them really outstanding works of art.

Very, very high quality original work. I hope the gent/lady/entity gets much wider recognition. Now added to my favourite artist list. Many thanks, SWAMP, for bringing this artist to our attention.

I'm glad the few of you found this work of interest. I'm really excited today because, David Ho(user name davidho),the person that inspired me to explore Poser has posted some new images in the gallery. He hasn't been around for over a year. Happy SWAMP

SWAMP, I know several other artists who would love this work. I'm trying to contact them now. Gonna check out davidho, too.

These are great-- they don't remind me of Dali-- more like the photohyprrealism of pierre et Gilles. http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Square/6807/pg/pg.html This site calls them kitsch-- maybe, doesn't stop me likng them and their style translates very well to Poser. Emily

Extremely interesting links, both the gallery one and the Pierre&Gilles one (although reitnomud's images remind me as much of Bosch as of any modern artist). Actually, I think Poser has the edge in this genre - photographs are, somehow, "too real for fantasy". It's something that I've often wondered about: what is it that makes some fantasy and surreal images so immersive, and others so silly? My guess is that the elements have to be so realistic that we accept them as reality, but not so realistic that we accept them as our everyday reality - if that makes any sense. Poser can achieve that almost invisible stylized edge, if all elements in the picture are "harmonious" (not second-rate props with pixelated tex's, or window-mannequin poses together w/ hi-rez figures w/ super tex's). Photography can't, unless Photoshop is enlisted to harmonize and stylize elements. I'm still not sure I've nailed down the essential factor, though... I'd love to hear anyone's views on this subject : What IS it that makes both reitnomud's and other (good) fantasy images so immersive?

I think, thip, that Poser has the edge in coming close to photographic-- often-- and yet it's not and we know its not. It's the reality of a dream, and a surreal composition also follows dream flow, especially well in reitnomud's work, so you can suspend disbelief and allow fantasy to have a semi-reality that's more real than life. Photography abruptly reminds you that this is really real-- it's unwelcome in the dream. PC Bos's work-- I really only know it from the examples he posted for his lighting studio-- comes close to this perfect dreamflow as well. Emily
