Subject: Moving into my dorm tomorrow

Well... I'll be moving into my dorm room tomorrow, excited - yes. I'll finally be able to simply view the galleries (thanks to a nearly private t3) which will be rather odd after scooting around on my cup and string 28k connection. Idk why I'm posting this, just thought i'd let you guys know, lol.

Good luck in college, I never got to do the whole college scene. I went when I was much older and went part-time and commuted. Oh well, hope you have fun and be careful not to over party. (sorry, thats the mom side of me). :-D enjoy!

Well hope to see some stuff from you once in awhile.... However, don't put off your studies to do your Brycin'. I been through the college thing but did as Angela did... waited till I was older and had to support a family as well as my schooling. Worked 60+ hours per week and averaged 17 credit hours per semester. Only got about 2 hours sleep each night after I finished with my homework. It really sucked. But I maintained a 3.85 GPA. I had to give up everything that was fun for the schooling but it paid off in the long run. Good luck with your college adventure man and have fun. 8)

Yeah Ornlu, if you apply the energy and passion to your studies that you do with Bryce, you will soon be on the Dean's list. Glad you got such a good connection too. Good luck.

Don't worry, I'm into my education, I had a 3.85 in hs, 25th in my class of 800, all AP classes... Worked myself to hell, but it was worth it. Going to college now with barely any payments due. I'm in my dorm now, but having some issues with my room-mate... I'm really into learning, and he's a sophomore who... flunked out of engineering freshman year and now is in "business".. I don't drink, first day he brings in like 5 bottles of hard liquor, he has about 4 kids in my room like him , put up lewd pictures all over the wall... I can't take this... Quite frankly, it sucks..

Complain to someone who can do something about moving you, otherwise you are going to have a rotten time of it.

Yeah, I know, I talked to my residency advisor, he said he'd check his age for the alcohol problem (he's 19..) and that he couldn't do anything untill after 2 weeks anyway.

I was in college for a year. (Mech. Engineering too. Yep, hard to believe huh?) Anyhow, do what you can to get moved to a different room or get a different roommate. I suffered through two different lousy ones (which probably explains why I only was there for a year.) One was a field and track jock, who wasn't all that bad -- but his friends would insist on being loud and playing the stereo, etc. The second was some senior who was looking for a dorm on the cheap I suppose (they had more and better options than the freshmen.) He was a lot worse, I'd describe him better - but that would violate Renderosity's TOS when it comes to profanity. If I saw him today, it'd be hard to resist punching him in the head... Well, enough of those memories. LOL... Just remember, the crappier the roommate - the more the stress - the worse the GPA. Now after flunking out that one year, I ended up working part time to help pay off the loan. Then did 5 1/2 years in the Navy to get the GI bill. Now I need to go back to school, so I can pick up where I left off (This time I won't put up with any crap!) LOL... As for you, try to get it right the first time. Good luck!

I've had similar problems with lowsy room mates. Even if your heart and mind are totally into your studies, if there is an idiot there to interrupt your line of thought you don't have a hope of getting as much done as you could if you were on your own. Some people go to college to waste time, have a laugh, with no intention of working towards a degree. Thats why I always think it would be much better for some kids to take a year out before going straight to uni or college. That way they get to kick off some of the angst and stupidity of childhood and get a feel of the real world before they decide on where they are going. I really do hope you get this sorted out Robert and if you are having any doubts or trauma during your studies remember you can always come here and talk to us about it.......just look at how Drac spent his time studying, when ever he got a bee in his bonnet(Scottish coloquialism), he'd come in here and get straightened out. Best of luck my friend. 8) Catlin

lol gawdddd college days.... I too dropped out of college, but was due to financial difficulty...i had grants to pay for the education, but i needed to buy the books and pay the bills...and doing that on your own without a ft job, 2 1/2 hours from home, sucks. (by bills i mean, food, car ins, phone, food, laundry, food.. ;) ) ahhhh roommates...my first year, i had a great roomie, who then, in our second year, moved off campus with her bf. my 2nd year, well, the first half of it, i had a young roommate, who had a fiance.....who came to stay every weekend...they said i "could stay in the rom" but who wants to sleep in a room with a couple not doing much sleeping?? LOL to all those weekends on the study lounge couch! and to all those massages by sexy co-eds on our dorm floor. winks Have a blast Ornlu, and keep up the great work at grades! Jen
