Subject: Having Trouble Constraining Motion of Paintbrush in TE

Hi, I want to draw straight lines on a terrain. In Real World Bryce (pg 349) it says to press the Shift key and I will only be able to drag the brush horizontally, vertically, or at a 45 degree angle. When I try it, I can only drag it horizontally. I want to make vertical lines and 45 degree angle lines too. Any suggestions? I don't find anything about this in the manual. Thanks, Willow

Yea, it's a pain trying to get those features to work. The trick is to get the mouse moving before you click. This is how I do it successfully most of the time. 1. hold the shift key down 2. head the mouse in the direction you've chosen rather quickly 3. click Once you get the hang of it it works. Don't forget you're "ctrl + z" combo which is the undo (for the PC).

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Even easier is to get a graphics pad. The TE constrains or a pain. If you don't have a graphics pad working in a 2D editor with 16 bit greyscale is better.

This is one of those few things that worked just fine in Bryce 4, but somehow got messed up in Bryce 5. In Bryce 5 you have to take your button pressing timing skills to the zen level to get it to work as you want it to, but it will work. AS

Thanks, everyone. I am far from Zen level when it comes to button pressing skill, more like humble gasshopper. I'll keep trying and keep the graphics pad idea in the back of my mind.
