Subject: What Happened to Neftis?

Jackson ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 10:28 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 1:43 PM

She hasn't posted in a while. I think she might have been upset over some stuff, but is she still working on her new Poser character? And wasn't she working on some new Poser hair? She didn't stop work on those did she? Anyone know if she hangs around another site where she might be posting updates?

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 10:42 AM

She's over at that french "sister site" (Sorry I always forget the name of it) And she HAS been posting updates. The character is looking to be really great :o) Too bad I only understand about 5 words in french :o/

...and working on the Toon Girl and Boy. She doesn't have plans to sell them though, yet. She's a perfectionist, and I think she wants them to be just right. The previews are in the Poser forum at Rendez-vous3D. I'm getting a french book just to figure the site out. They have a few things there that no one else has. I'm lucky enough to have an early copy of the Toon Girl, and she's wonderful to work with. Her proportions are a little extreme, but when she's rendered she's the sexiest thing I've seen so far. She's a great cross between the best of Koshini and Vicky. I'm almost more eager to see her and her male counterpart than I am M3, and for me that's saying a lot. It's a d*mn shame some people had to jump on her for showing the Toon Girl in the Poser gallery. She hasn't even decided she wants to sell her yet, but she got the brunt of the current flame war. She's way too nice a person to have to take that much heat for what should be a very minor issue. I hope she comes back here soon. She's missed by lots of us.

Did you all see the image of the male in the post over there? He is coming along nicely as well :)

I would love to help anybody out as far as translations are concerned. Please don't hesitate. I've helped a lot of Francophones on this site to interpret ULAs and to get them English Keywords for their market place searches. So it's no big deal. And Neftis is, indeed, a great lady. oh pdxjims your so lucky to have a early copy of the ToonGirl! :) i normally don't do/like cartoony... but when i seen her wip's i feel in love. it is a shame about what happened... but people on renderosity tend to get the pitchforks out before they even know what they're getting pitchforks out for lol... i'll have to check out the progress she's made.. thanks for the link.

igohigh ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 2:43 PM

I'd put my $.02 in about what happened but with how touchy, finiky, and down-right childish some in this community have become it would only start more flaming. This used to be such a nice place to come and share and learn and just spend some time. Seems like every time some one comes along and does something really nice others get jealous and start a war to chase them away.....what crying shame!

Jackson ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 2:53 PM

Wow, that is a nice site thanks for the tip. I'll start searching for her now...I might be hollering for ya, Q. And it is a shame.

quixote ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 3:07 PM

Jackson, anytime. Neftis has been a member of the RDV3d site for a while now. This is just a presentation she did for the members. She stated that she has not yet decided if she wants to finish or sell those, but should she, I doubt that it would be to her advantage to sell in such a small marketplace. She just honored us with a presentation that blew us away. Take care, Q

She really should try selling those at Daz. They're so great and if Daz can sell Koshini they outta sell Elle as well. I love Koshini but at some points Elle is a better anime character :o)

You guys slay me. No one was jealous of her creation. All I asked was why some people get slammed for showing products and some don't. She had already meantioned a long time ago she was selling this item, now she says she's not and that everyone was mean to her. Give me a break. Marque

As far as the element of this community that are driving people away with their whining and complaining and flames, perhaps the administration should consider getting rid of the troublemakers instead of the established community members. I'm not going to point fingers or name names, but it seems a shame that we have to get updates from Neftis' project (which many of us have taken and interest in) second-hand because of the actions of a few morons. bonni

dialyn ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 11:06 PM

As a possible moron, I would suggest it would be difficult to choose who the troublemakers are. It would seem a troublemaker is anyone who doesn't agree with someone else. Over time, that would eliminate most of the community that posts regularly. My recollection of the original thread was that the question (not accusation) was if Neftis's creation came under the same rules that the vendors were being asked to follow about posting their own products in the product forum. At the beginning, Neftis did not indicate if the work in question was going to be sold or not...in fact, I assumed, like many others, it would be sold since she has offered a great many items for the marketplace. She made a very dramatic declaration that she was being picked on but it wasn't true, despite the rewriting of history now...she wasn't accused of anything in particular, rather it was the overall rule of conduct that was in question for everyone (and not just her). I think it is easy to call people names and demean them with moronic titles, but the facts are more complex than that, and it is too bad we retreat to labeling people instead of remembering that it was community members themselves that were in disagreement over the issues. Who should be tossed out? And who gets to be the judge? Too many people want to pretend they have that right but I find most dubious to decide. This community has no consistency in its attitude toward any topic...I venture to say it could not even agree on who should stay and who should go. There is a vocal minority which often gets its way by consistent repetition of complaints which falsifies the notiion of an overall opinion just by beleaguering people with the steady drone of the same opinion posted on several different threads over and over aagin, a silent majority that rarely speaks up but quietly works on their own private itnerests in the background without caring about the community as a whole, and a few moderators who try to find the middle ground. Just like the real world, isn't it?

ryamka ( ) posted Mon, 01 September 2003 at 11:10 PM

Whatever. Last time I checked, it was neftis that packed up her toys and went to play in another sandbox. The only complaining was about the forum that certain content should be put in. Nobody drove her away. She through a snit and left all on her own. End of story. No one called for her banning. Noone called for deleting her material. They just asked that she post her stuff in another forum that it is just as easily and readily available (such as Character Creators; Modeling; the specific application that character was modeled/modded in; and yes, the Product Showcase. Please keep the facts straight. You guys are acting like she was crucified and left to hang for three days. While some people may have gotten nails, noone brought a hammer. - Ray

Just like the real world, isn't it? < God, I hope not. Ugh. Well.... maybe a bit like high school. The politics are pretty similar. So are a lot of the attitudes. That's all I'm going to say on the topic. I've got nothing more to contribute one way or the other, and I don't want to argue because, believe it or not, I actually don't LIKE arguing, and I actually have a real life that's a lot more important to me than the goings-on in Renderosity forums. ;-) bonni

Can I just add a comment ? Neftis has created a wonderfull character..... well ! And if the ultimate decision for the future of this character belong to Neftis.... and only her ! I think that we are not concerned at all for instance and I am desolate to see all these speculations around a thing which don't exists at this time and all that we can to do is hope to see the "ToonGirl" in a marketplace, and know which one is not essential. Sorry for my bad english, but please for all members...... come down again and don't change this creation into a vain conflict. That all.................. Yorisan

Hi folks, It seems the Rendez-vous folks have gotten a little upset about the fact that I posted these images here. Since I don't want to offend them (they've done nothing wrong) they've asked me to remove the images, which I've done. Personally, I posted the images here as a statement. This Poser forum used to be a one-stop place to find out EVERYTHING going on regarding Poser, product announcements and all. Now it is not. This is an example of something genuinely exciting that has dropped off the Renderosity radar completely since Neftis probably won't be posting in the PRODUCT ANNOUCEMENTS forum at all. This is a loss to everybody, which forces us to go elsewhere for our news, splintering this community here. However, having now made that statement, I have no trouble moving on. -jjsemp
