Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 08 9:27 am)
Assuming you have uv mapper, open the obj file for the prop and in the mapping menu (I forget which menu it is in the free version), choose the type of map you want to make. This depends on the type of prop. Here are the types of map. Planar - makes a flat map of the object. Box map - good for any cube-shaped or rectangular object like walls, boxes, doors, etc. Cylindrical - Use for all tube-shaped objects. Like a bottle or glass. Cylindrical cap - tube-shaped with top and bottom. Good for hats, etc. Spherical - all round objects. Once you have a map you like, save the obj file and a template of the map. Open the obj in poser and save it as a prop, then use the template to paint th texture. mac

One more thing. The above is very basic uv mapping. You can also do things like enlarge parts of the map to give more detail, or stack maps on top of one another (like vicki and mike maps). You can get info and tutorials on all mapping subjects at steve's forum (the guy who wrote the program). macYou can drag-and-drop any Poser file with embedded geometry onto UVmapper, and it will deal with it as if it were an OBJ mesh. It just ignores the non-OBJ bits. However it won't save as a PP2 or whatever, just as OBJ, so you have to import back into Poser and add to the library. When importing, uncheck all the options, and the prop will be the same scale and position as before.
