Subject: Problem with Vue 4.2 beta ??

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 2:47 PM · edited Thu, 06 February 2025 at 6:48 PM

I have download the 4.2 beta update. I have installed this upgrade. And i have tried to import poser 5 PZ3 file in vue, but... The software try to locate... Poser 4! and not Poser 5... I try to continue the process, and finally Vue say "the poser 4 serial is wrong" and it stopped the import... It is normal, i have Poser 5, not poser 4... :o( May be i have misunderstanding something, because i thought that fonction (poser 5 import) was include in the beta version ??? So, my question : the poser 5 import it or isn't it in the update ? And if it is include in the beta 4.2, what dit i get wrong ? Thank you.

Probably you have Poser 4 installed on your computer. If you were working before this update with Vue and Poser 4, il always will locate Poser 4. possibilities for you: 1. Uninstall completely Vue and re-install. 2. Rename your Poser 5 to Poser 4.

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 3:26 PM

First : I have NEVER installed poser 4 on this computer... ONLY Poser 5... Help, Help, i have follow your advices and.... 1/I uninstall completly Vue, and i re-install vue and the 4.2 beta. I try to import a pz3 file and vue ask to locate Poser 4 again !!!!! :o( 2/ I rename poser 5 to poser 4... and when i try to import pz3 file he ask me to locate poser 4... i follow the process and Vue say "Wrong Poser 4 serial number"... Have you a method to FORCE vue 4.2 to locate poser 5 and not poser 4 !!??

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 3:32 PM

Some clue... may be ... I have the US poser 5 sr3 version, and i have a FRENCH vue 4 version...

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 3:45 PM

some clue... I just search all my Windows XP register to found keys with data including "poser 4"... no result. But when i take the same search with "poser 5" i found many keys with data with "poser 5" in... Conclusion i have no "poser 4" information write in my XP register, only "Poser 5".....

  1. Make sure your Vue 4.2 install was correct. Open Vue, click HELP--->ABOUT VUE and see if 4.2 is written there. I don't understand why 4.2 should ask you for Poser 4??? Normally Vue only askes to "locate Poser" (without speaking about a version) and you just have to locate Poser.exe from Poser 5. Today I cannot do more for you, maybe tomorrow.

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 4:06 PM

Yes, i confirm 4.2 was written on the "about Vue" windows... It is the first thing i verify when i have installed the beta upgrade :o( And another clue : Vue ask to locate poser 4 in FRENCH...

gebe ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 4:25 PM

"Vue ask to locate poser 4 in FRENCH" That's normal, becaus your Vue copy is in French language. And what have you done exactly? Located Poser.exe (5) and Vue said your serial is incorrect?? And if you try to make your Vue cpy "English"? You can find the patch at e-on's site. I'm really lost, because my Vue NEVER asked to locate Poser 4 or 5 or whatever. It only asked to locate Poser. Ha!! And now I have another idea!!! Have you closed Poser before you try to import a Pz3 into Vue?? Possibly it will not work when Poser is open (this is exact for Poser4!!!) Try!!

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 4:47 PM

First thank you for the time you pass to solve my problem. Vue ask exactly : "Importer des objets Poser necessite que Curious lab's Poser 4 soit installsur votre ordinateur. Veuillez localiser l'application Poser 4 maintenant." And if i continue It open a window browser, with : "Veuillez localiser l'application Poser 4" i locate... poser 5 (i have not poser 4 on my computer), and it say :"Votre numerie de serie Poser n'est pas valide, veuillez consulter Curious labs pour obtenir un numero valide." Now, i try to install vue in English... You say there is a "patch" on e-on site ?

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 5:09 PM

Heu... Guitta, i search on download section on e-on site... i dont find a method to "transform" my French Vue version, in an English Vue version... All the upgrade version are multi-language... I uninstall/reinstall vue to try, but never Vue ask me to choose my language... When it finished the install process, my Vue it always in French...

Go to e-onsoftware site. Click MAP at top right. This brings you to a page "site map" In PRODUCTS--VUE you will find language ressources. But first of all try to close Poser before you import into Vue. This was maybe the big problem. And if you always have problems, just go to the support page at e-on's site and write down your problem. And another thing: For sure you had installed Vue 4.12 before you installed 4.2?! Hopefully!

Destribats ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 5:23 PM

Thank Guitta, Poser is close when i import in Vue... :o( At uninstall/reinstall, i install Vue from the Cd, i install 4.12 full and finally 4.2 beta... And the problem is always present..... :o( Now, with your indication i try the english version.

gebe ( ) posted Wed, 03 September 2003 at 5:37 PM

And if this doesn't help, you must report it to e-onsoftware. Just go to their page and click SUPPORT. Despit of what some others said, you ALWAYS will get a response if you are a registered user. Count 2-3 working days to get an answer. Guitta

Well, now my Vue speak English !!! And... Ask to locate Poser 4 but the message is now in English.... Bouhouhouhou !!!!! Snif! This night i have install/reinstall Vue 5 times.... :o( No result... snif, snif! No I go to sleep... May be tommorrow will be a new day... with new idea... Thanks again for your help Guitta.

I don't know what to say... Vue 4.2 should not be asking for "Poser 4", but just "Poser", without any version number. To me, this seems to indicate that something went wrong when applying the beta update. Destri, one important thing that you didn't mention is the platform/OS you're using. Please contact me via the e-on tech support forum so we can investigate further. Best regards, Steve Bell

Steve, thank you for your answer. I contact you in the next minutes on the e-on tech support.

Destribats ( ) posted Thu, 04 September 2003 at 3:31 PM

I just download and installed the new version 4.2. There is a little difference : now Vue ask to locate Poser (without number 4) I locate poser.exe but... It say my poser serial number is wrong.... :o( :o( ... Bouhouhouhou.... :o(

gebe ( ) posted Thu, 04 September 2003 at 3:43 PM

Have you closed Poser before you import to Vue? If not, you may ger this error message.

Destribats ( ) posted Thu, 04 September 2003 at 3:48 PM

Yes... Poser is never open in my test... :o(

gebe ( ) posted Thu, 04 September 2003 at 3:54 PM

So, contact again e-onsoftware. Don't wait.

Destribats ( ) posted Thu, 04 September 2003 at 4:07 PM

I follow your advise. I have posted a second mail on e-on technical forum... Now, i am waiting the answer...
