Subject: Stephanie 3?

i think that if v3 can be morphed into a male pretty much like m3 why does m3 doesn't morph into a female i mean, a stephanie version 3 well... 2 would be apreciated, since the first steph was from mike's mesh why dont they make another steph, i know that modeling isn't easy so obviously daz wont make a model daily but stephanie 2 will be a good idea, i'm not a steph fan but if v3 improved a lot since v2 and 1 how much will steph improve... :) have a nice day!

From all the conversations with Daz that have taken place on this forum and others, I take it that there are no plans to move to a higher generation of Stephanie. That she was an interim jump--kind of Vickie 2 and a half. Though she seems a bit brittle in the joints for this, she is a step on the road to a unisex model which can be improved and from which both male and female figures can be made. I like Stephanie and find her angular face and body very useable, but she may be a dead-end. Only as far as improvements, I mean I'm still using V2 also, and will continue to use M2 after I get M3 cause Poser 5 can't take very many high mesh creatures in a render. Emily

Well, it would really good if DAZ would think about some female morphs for the M3 pack, just like V3 has male morphs. Variety and versatility is a good thing, and being able to make a Stephanie-like model out of M3 would be excellent. Personally, I like V3 male, as it's good to be able to make a more slender, somewhat androgenous model if you want to. The same would work with M3 female (assuming there were to be such a thing), being able to make a more masculine, "butch" woman. I know some people don't like the idea of "unisex" characters, but as far as I'm concerned, flexibility and versatility and above all VARIETY are highly desirable. ;) bonni

from what I remember from a frustrated thread involving anton, M3 has no female morphs (or at the time wasn't expected to) Anton was under the impression the constant complaints here lead to them deciding it wasn't time well spent, since folks considered it a taboo area to tread. Frankly, I like V3 male, and was looking forward to a more masculine, stephanieish set of morphs for M3. Hopefully, they did decide to add them in.... eric

Well, the loud and grumbly factor at Renderosity hardly represents the majority (at least, I hope not! ;). Still, I can see why DAZ would be hesitant to do this, if they think there's no market, or that the return wouldn't be justified by the time investment. Personally, I don't understand the people who think that a text file has a gender. ;) bonni

I think it was MallenLane that said "Polygons are not People". :D I wanna see female morphs in M3. I want diversity, I want flexability, I want versatility... I want, I want! ... Daz, I check your page every few hours now, I'm on the edge of my seat...

Hehehehe, lhiannan, I could have written that post... ;D bonni

Part of the point of Stephanie was to get a female with a better mesh than V1, while still using the same JPs and so clothes. Since the third generation figures already use the same mesh there'd be no point in doing that, and although a female figure with male JPs might have its uses the need for yet another clothing line would probably just annoy people. They could achieve much the same effect with a new morph pack for V3 with real body changes (and wasn't Anton asking how we wanted extra channels added in anticipation of such a pack?).

One thing I'm very confused about is will one be able to upgrade from Micheal 2 to Micheal 3 without buying Victoria 3? Everyone's saying that he is based on her mesh, but I don't own any generation of Victoria, and I would find the cost prohibitive to have to purchase her most recent incarnation to get Micheal. I use comparitively few females in my renders, and Stephanie was a free give away to those of us who bought Micheal 2. I'm contented with her and the CL Poser women for the time being, I don't want to have to buy other women. Of course I would object if there was a Stephanie 2 provided as a side grade or a gift.

Tomsde, I know it wasn't what you intended, but that line taken out of context just made my day :D

I don't see Daz making anyone buy V3 to upgrade to M3. It doesn't go with how they usually do their price chains. I could be entirely wrong, tho. Oh, and M3 is NOT based on V3's mesh. M3 and V3 are based on the SAME uni-mesh.

As Lhiannan says, the mesh is cut, grouped and mapped at least somewhat differently, so it will need its own OBJ file. You won't be able to turn it into V3 without a lot of effort, nor vice-versa.

Michael 3.0 is a stand-alone product, to the best of my knowledge as a beta tester. You will be able to purchase Michael 3.0 without having the previous requirement of having Victoria 3.0
