For gallery work, in a magazine, they are probably shooting for 600 DPI on the input images. That's so the print will be crisp and clean, no matter what. It's pretty standard. Bryster, there used to be a magazine called 3D Artist. It was excellent, and featured ALL of the different 3D packages, every month. It was full of Bryce help and tutorials, and in fact, the first Mojoworld tutorial ever printed (far as I know) which was written by (of course) Doc Mojo... Great Mag, I miss it a lot.
More than a chance, it IS our Creations! Yeah, Bryster, same as Bryces pixels. A lot of magazines ask for 300 dpi, since 3,000 pixels at 300 dpi equals 10 inches, which is what I have seen in most requirements for magazines, etc. But 600 is cool too, 300 should be your minimum really. AS

Now that's a real shame! I just looked back at my earliest copy of 3D Artist magazine issue #15 prepared May-June of 1994. That sure was a great mag for 3D artists of all levels.
Last issue web site;
Oh thank you!!! It is my first ever also in a magazine. I have not seen it yet, as it takes ages for art magazines to arrive here from USA or UK.
I send two smaller images yes, one was a study render to test out new textures I made and the other was soooo full of models I could not render it larger, as it crashed my machine and I didn't know than to render with layers, 2D planes etc.:-).
Older work, really happy! - Elsina
The two pics are called: 1) AMARYLLUS 2) VIEW ON HAARLEM Many congratulations! Perhaps you can tell me what rez you sent? The Bryster

Thanks Bryster, the final renders were 680 x 480 or so. But I am still planning to re-render them once on larger resolution and rework them.
Rayraz, Dont know of any secrets. :) I have Ta Kimble from Renderosity staff to thank for that. She sent them The Timerider without my knowledge. ...not that im complaining... :)

That's it. I'm gonna make up a page for us that gives out all the information to different magazines that takes submissions from 3D people. (I can think of two, lol) But, we should ALL be aware of this and start aiming at getting our work taken little higher, I mean it's gotta be a kick to see your pic in/on a magazine! I got Computer Arts and 3D World Mag, if anybody else has any Mags that they know of, speak up. I'll also include the basic info on dpi, file format(s), "render to disk", etc, that some might not know. AgentSmith

Ill second AS about that aiming a little higher. Just keep sending stuff in! AS, Ive had some work featured in 3D User Mag. A Taiwaneze(?) mag. Got in by request though, so i dont know if they accept submissions through their webpage. Worth a look though. Think Kromekat has been in it as well.Rudolf Herczog

Rayraz...that's weird...I (thought I) had. I'll go change it again, and keep the lookout for gremlins...or the first signs of multiple personalities in myself.... Rochr, will check it out/add it onto the list! Thanks! AS

I've just bought a subscription to Computer Arts, do you think they would be more likely to consider my work for publication now I'm paying them money? Oh and not only art mags, did I tell everyone that myself and ttops had an animation on BBC tv, they didn't just show it once, they showed it again on their Mars special too. The programmes producer even said that our animation was better than they get from NASA, so who says Bryce is a low end app? Catlin 8)
"Do you think they would be more likely to consider my work for publication now I'm paying them money?" I think that doesn't matter to them. Try submitting your august challenge entry. It's really good. I didn't see your animation. Wich BBC channel was it at? Any place on the net where I can see the animation? We've only got BBC1 and BBC2 here on the cable. I want BBC-choise. That's where they have Robotwars if I remember correctly. I'd gladly give up the german Arte channel or the demo-channel for an extra BBC channel.

It was BBC 1 "The Sky at Night", and I think it's still on their web site. The program was the Mars Special and they only showed a small piece of the animation on that program but I don't think you can see last months program now where you could see more of it, If TT puts the animation on our web site I'll let you know. So Catlin, when do you start work for NASA?

OK. She gets pregnant by another guy. My son is head over heels with her, sez he'll be the good guy and look after her AND the baby. She sez cos her mother wants to go back to the states (mom and daughter are both Americans) she wants to go with her. My son and her could get married and live state-side. My son gets Glandular fever and nearly dies, the girlfriend is having sex with her ex and dumps my son..........when he gets outa hospital.

I don't have any ex-girlfriends to hate. The only girl I got really close to a real relationship with was always very shy. She had beautifull blond hair and really nice brown eyes that would change to a shiny almost orange color if the light it them right. She really liked me a lot and I liked her too, but she was just to damn shy to take any hint. A few times the spark went over and we nearly kissed, but every time something happened wich spoiled the moment. We'd be just one second away from kissing and her mother would call why she what she was waiting outside for for the last 2 hours (wich was because I'd been riding home with her and we couldn't stop talking :) ). Then she would snap back into shy mode and the whole thing was off again. I quess it was just not to be... But I still speak to her every now and then. She's a lot less shy now, but the spark is gone.

{Think Kromekat has been in it as well. } I wasn't in the Tawanese one you were Rudy, but I had work on the cover of NewCG in China one month, and a 6 page interview + pics in the following month. CGWorld Japan also ran an interview + pics recently, and of course the cover of 3DWorld which led to the others in the first place! :) It's all great publicity guys, I reccomend it highly!

Only today got my copy of the magazine. The images posted are "Amaryllus" (640x480) and "Provence" (1000x750) and not as mentioned "View on Haarlem" as it is stated there. They are both in my gallery as well.
Good to see you in there, though! I'll have to make a trip to the book store, check it out. AS

In case you're interested....there are 2 small renders in Bryce in issue 42 of the 3D World magazine. Page 96 (Exhibition section) done by Elsina who has a website under the name 'creations'. If anyone knows......3D World asks for images for submission to be 3000pixels wide or high.....is this the same as setting a Bryce page to 3000 x whatever? The Bryster
