I do beleive Drac posted the drafts of the petition before and if you had something to say about Mac's being in it that was the time to do it. Not to say anything bad about Mac's but complaining after the petition has been put up is a bit late and since you posted to this forum it's apparent that you do read the forums. Hopefully they'll take the petition to mean all OS's.
Hey if we get the things roling again we can discuss the details. I'm sure that there is a chance to get a Mac Port too if we can make Corel work on Bryce again. Maybe one can ask Apple about a little help on making Corel think about that. One like to try that? I think my english is not good enough for complex arguments so it should be one that has not that problem. Greetings Thomas
Drac, Not all of us Mac guys are quite so high-handed, although some certainly are for reasons I don't claim to understand. I certainly was one of the first to sign this petition. So please don't flame us all for the ignorance of the few. For the Mac people...You all should certainly support this petition. We must ALL try to get developement on Bryce rolling again in some fashion. Support for the Mac is always an option if Vector restarts Bryce. No restart - no option. I raised the issue about specifically including the Mac in future versions of Bryce, because currently Corel has cancelled development and sales of Bryce for Mac, while continuing to sell the Windows version. Therefore, I felt the need to see Macs mentioned, because any future version of Bryce, if released solely for the Windows platform, is the same as no Bryce at all, for me. It was not my intent to sound snobbish, only concerned because Corel has officially buried the Mac version, while proudly displaying the corpse of the Windows version. Granted, until I see Bryce 6 for Mac OS X, regardless of who distributes it, I will not purchase or upgrade any of my Corel applications, including CorelDRAW Suite, Knockout, or Painter. Can I at least be stubborn about that? ;)
You know... There is something to be said about the MAC vs PC debacle... I love my PC but some of the work my friends and co-workers do on macs is just out-of-this-world... So having said that, I'll support the petition, but Im assuming here that it also will include MAC versions.. Besides, any piece of software of this nature cannot exsist without having both PC and MAC versions.. Not doing a MAC version would just be suicide. Not that the animation community takes Bryce seriously or anything. But still... -dash101
Has anyone else read the post by wombat about Eric Wenger owning the code for Bryce?, if that's the case then Corel or Vector cannot kill Bryce and it is possible to bring Bryce back using another name and a slightly different UI, since that's the only thing Corel actually bought. As for the PC/Mac thing, this is just stupid, 'cos if you don't sign there is less of a chance of anything positive being done with Bryce, for PC or for Mac. But as others have said if we get things moving again it gives us the chance to have all versions reactivated. Catlin
I own a Mac and I signed the petiton. I also added verbage that never got included in the new petition that specifically said to continue developing a multi-platform version of Bryce. Why this was left out is anyones guess. Mac users are not high-handed or snobby WE are the minority in a lot of 3d apps right now. This will change with the g5, but because of Motorola's problems we have become second class citizens in this windows-centric world. We simply do not want to be left out if there is a chance b6 ever happens. Scott - One of the original founders of the bryce community - tuckersaur on AOL in 1994.
In the wording of the petition it doesn't mention PC or Mac but the emphesis is on Bryce. As you say Scott Mac's may come back to promenace with the G5, which looks like a brilliant bit of hardware IMO, but in the meantime if Mac users don't sign the petition we have less of a chance of getting things moving again for either OS. I'm a Mac user, I signed it, but I would still prefer for it to have been slightly re-worded- no, I don't usually read this forum, and yes, I find the initial post here to be somewhat offensive with its negative Mac-User blanket statements. Frankly, when Corel said it was stopping development for Bryce for the Mac, I seriously tried out Vue. It really is quite a cool app. I love being able to open Poser files directly, & the Vegetation is damn sweet. And now Vue Pro looks marvelous with wind effects and so on! Anyways, I'd still prefer it if Bryce survived.

It's the Bryce program that is important, not which OS it is running on, although I do sympathise with Mac users for being let down by Corel. But if we all have a great love for this little app then we all got to pull together so that in the future people can still buy Bryce and fall in love with it too. I'm just a big sentimental thing, ie. falling in love with inanimate objects, or 3ds, or cob, or lwo, etc. etc. 8) Catlin

Okay, I got a reply to one of my latest threads from a mac user who said that he could not support the petition because it doesn't specify Vector continuing support for the OS. Now, personally, I have Windows, damn proud of it, but I frankly didn't think of adding a special section just for Mac users in the damned thing. I'm not sure what the ratio of Bryce users is PC/MAC but my intent was for overall Bryce development. To state that you wouldn't support it because it didn't include the word mac in it is a bit off in my opinion -i mean i could call it snobbish, boring and wrong but i won't. Anyway, if you do own a Mac copy of Bryce be thankful for the fact that that guy still owns the rights for Mac to Bryce -or so I understood from his letter, the one from the original creator of Bryce. What happens with Bryce cross-platform is in the air, as it is with Bryce generally. Granted, if the guy would continue development just for macs I'd get annoyed too. Vice versa applies is my point. Anyway, just please support the damned thing. For some reason it seems that Mac users always take this high horse stance towards PC users. Macs are better? K, stick with it. 90% of the market -and profits will belong to pc's and that's the way it is. Petition-wise, just sign the damned thing. Either way it will be for the greater good. If that happens to be windows only, then that's that. But don't knock other people's right to it just because you own a bloody mac. Drac
