Subject: Please help

Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem I am having? I have searched this forum, and the net high and low and cannot find out how to fix it. Anyways the problem is this. When applying textures to mike 2 such as skin textures for example, if I import or add anything else, such as a prop, or another figure into the scene, mikes body turns white, While the head textures remain. And it stays white. Despite the fact that the texture is applied to him according to the materials window. If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it, Please help me out here. Daz suggested selecting the last "sphere" so that the model is texture shaded, I have done that, and the body is still white. And untextured, even though the materials window says the texture is applied to mike. I would most def appreciate some help to fix this problem.

Try adding more RAM or maybe more virtual memory.

What happens when you render?

That's a memory problem for sure... I usually need to close down Poser.

Have you defragged your disc lately ? Sometimes, it does the trick for me.

Thanks for responding guys, Karen when I render, it either locks poser up, or mike remains white. Compiler I just did within the past three days a coplete reformat and reinstall. Man I hope its not a ram or memory issue, although I suspect that this maybe the problem as it only does it with the hi-res textures for M2. Anyways thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it. (specially to you compiler)

P.S. After reading the previous post I realized it sounds as if I am being a smartass, I wasnt, that was not my itnent at all. I really mean that compiler, Thank you for trying to help me out with this problem. I wasnt being a smartass there.

You might try reducing the size of the texture file by 50% in your graphics program and see if that fixes it - if so, you know it's a memory issue. How much memory and HDD space have you got, by the way?

it is ram problem. i had it also and as i add more ram it was gone. you may try increasing the virtual memory space - by hand, don't let windows do it automatically, sometimes it gets very confused :P

I've seen it and I agree it's probably memory. Try shutting off everything extra that's running, tray applications, unnecessary services, etc. You might also try getting the free CacheRam utility (link on CL's site) to reclaim any memory that isn't released when applications exit. Either that or buy more memory. If you're running Win 98, Windows 2000 or XP does a better job of managing memory.

I don't even know what a smartass is, so no problem. I hope you are getting this problem fixed soon. Best wishes.

Lmakenzie you know I was using xp, and went back to 98 for reasons such as dont like all that eye candy in xp just more familiar with 98 etc... but now that you mention it, I dont remember having this problem when using xp either. I may try that before buying more ram. Thanks Guys I still havent gotten it fixed, but I havent tried to install any more ram yet. I appreciate the help.

How much memory do you have now. I've only got 256MB. With that amount, you should be able to work with one Millenium figure using a high resolution texture - at least up to 3000x3000 I'd say. Since you already have XP, it's moot but Windows 2000 is as solid an OS without the frills, basically a 98 style interface. Hope you get it figured out :-)
