Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
You can transform any Poser clothing into torn clothing with a combination of painted textures and transparency maps. On the transparency map, any area that is black is "invisible", and any area that is white is opaque. You can see examples of this with eyelashes or eyebrows in many Poser figures. Then, on the "regular" texture, just paint some tear details around the edges of what you want "invisible" in the transparency map, and between the two you get what you want.
There was a torn pants for Mike called Zombie pants. I can't remember from where I downloaded it, but the read-me says: If any questions contact me at Subway oblivion.com - Thanks, Bill Carboni.
Stormrage-any regular clothing that normal folks wear. I need casual (business wear)and formal(everyday clothes) regular clothes- I'm writing graphical stories in the sci-fi/horror genres and I need clothes in various states of disrepair for different crisis situations. default clothes already in poser and a few daz clothes for vicky 1 / 2 / 3 and Micheal 1 / 2 would help.
Grab a texture map (you can make one using the free uvmapper classic from uvmapper.com but SnowSultan does better ones by putting in a lot of work). Paint on the texture map as one would paint a pigment texture for the clothing, except that you paint white for where there is still cloth, black for where there is no cloth (e.g. torn away) and grey for thin/worn cloth. In addition you might want to modify any pigment textures so that there's white or "stressed" look around the tears, to make it look less liek the clothing has just ben cut ragged. That should be about the basics for a good start, though there's nothing like experience :)

Here's a good example. You can get this texture set for Posette's jeans by foxhollow at the at EroticScratchpad - don't look if you'll be blinded by male genital morphs :-)"Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Mencken
Thank you-I have the torn jeans already-but it is wonderful that I have friends to help me with things-thank you. What I am looking for is a bit different-I am looking for clothes that are torn as if in a struggle,or as the result of an accident-like zombie clothes, nuclear survivor clothes,"I just crawled out of a crashed helicopter"clothes,"I've been living in the woods for fifteen years"clothes,"A mad gaurd dog just tried to have me for lunch"clothes, etc.LOL
Ah, you want the Geo. Bush in downtown Falluja sliced, diced, ripped and shredded look. If you want pieces of clothing hanging off, it might require modifying the geometry. It would be easy enough to "cut loose" some pieces and peel them back but I don't know how that would effect morphs and such. I suppose you could also just create some patches in a modeler, fold and bend them the way you need and then parent them to the garment, using the transparency map technique to create matching holes. Then again, all of that may be insane.

Sounds like something with a number of "patches" that could be "torn" to varying degrees using morph dials would be needed - custom made and not requiring any messing with transparency. It's certainly doable - if you can find someone to do it :-)
