THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: major delays---sorry guys

JC_01 ( ) posted Sun, 21 September 2003 at 9:41 PM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 9:09 AM

sorry guys, I had some major delays this weekend and didn't get much work done on the Victorian house. My mother-in-law came to stay the weekend, and just left a few hours ago. (this after my sister froze up my pc after the last changes but before a save) Some updates on the pic tho, as of a few minutes ago, total objects now 900, and poly's are at 1,838,966 and the pc says it should take about 3:03:15:30 (which is the LONGEST anything I've made yet has taken) for a basic plain full render, not including AA. I've turned the preview window to sky only, as even in wireframe mode, it was very very very slow. I've added tons of trees made into flower bushes in the stone wall, as well as the flower garden in front of the house, more trees to the right in back, and more flowers up front. I'd like to add a old style lamppost type thingy in the left front, but I dont' think my pc can handle any more...LOL (even the wireframe looks nasty at this point...lol or I would post another of those...) so sorry guys, looks like it could take this old slow pc about 2 days to get even a preview render... (how long is 3:03:15:30 anyhow???)

catlin_mc ( ) posted Sun, 21 September 2003 at 10:46 PM

That's 3 days, 3 hours, 15 mins, and 30 seconds. lol 8D I do hope you have the patience for it, although you could do it in bits by letting it render when you sleep, saving it when you wake and restarting for the next sleep session. At least that's how I usually do these horrendously long renders. BTW, was it a surprise visit by your mother in law, or more importantly do you get on with her? 8) Catlin

I remember the wireframe view you posted, it'll be worth the wait.

Rayraz ( ) posted Mon, 22 September 2003 at 2:35 AM

JC_01; just split the scene up in 2 files. One with the plants and one with the rest for instance. Then you can add your lamppost in one of them and merge the scenes when you go for the final render. how fast/slow is your comp?

my mother-in-law decided on friday that she was coming out Saturday to take me shopping, cause we're having a party for hubby's work this weekend, and my sofa and loveseat "isn't good enough for company" So of course with the new furniture, had to come new decorations for every room in the house...sheesh... We get along ok, but when she's here, my house isn't mine, it's hers... *rolls eyes* My pc is 512mb RAM, 733 processor, 40 gig HD. Kinda slow....but it's not running right even after a defrag and scandisk, clean up utility, so it's going even slower then normal. I started a preview render last night bout 10:00 and by 8 this morning was at 10%.. LOL at that pace, it won't be till next week till I get something to C&C lol Although, I'm thinking with it taking this long, this will be a final, UNLESS there's something MAJORLY wrong...LOL Here's the inspiration piece I used for this...(was thinking I should post after the image so th eexpectations aren't too high lol but decided, I need to post something...hahahahah)

JC_01 ( ) posted Mon, 22 September 2003 at 8:18 AM

Rayaz, that splitting scenes sounds like it may work, but now that everything's already in the image, how do I do that? Select like all the trees then copy and delete them, post into a new image and then do the merge? I need to read more on that...grins

Here's a quick render of some of the types of flowers I have in the garden by the house, up close to camera, and the trellis with yellow viney flowers.

Hey JC - if rendering is a real pain - you could send it to me and ill render it on the network here for you - it may still take a while (I usually do mine over the weekend ;)) but the offers there Stash ;0)

JC_01 ( ) posted Mon, 22 September 2003 at 9:15 AM

That sounds like a very kewl and gracious offer, the problem is the file is over 46mb in size, which pretty much makes sending it out of the question for anyplace...unfortunately... I do thank you for the offer tho, I would love to see this pic...LOL (like all of you, I'm still waiting to see it too..hahahahha)

stash0404 ( ) posted Mon, 22 September 2003 at 9:18 AM

No problem - I cant wait to see the pic Be Good ;0)

Rayraz ( ) posted Mon, 22 September 2003 at 9:29 AM

I'd select all the trees delete them and save the result as file one. Then I'd load the original, select all the trees again, the invert the selection and delete that and save it as the second file. BR5's can be zipped very good, maybe it'll fit on a free webaccount for download if you zip it.

I'm sure it will be lovely when we do eventually get to see it Jen. Just stick with it and post it here as soon as possible, if not sooner. lol 8) Catlin

Well, I set it to render, and ended up making a trip to the emergency room. (an 8 hour trip) Anyhow, as it turns out, my ovarian cyst ruptured, and am now on some heavy pain meds.... weeeeeee So I think this week would be best for rendering, not for editing...hahahahah Working for that render...am very determined.... (tried the render to disk, and it got stuck and froze in the first line...lol) BTW, after some new trees and stuff this morning, new specs are 915 objects, and 2,103,092 polygons. (think I better stop before my pc does...lol) Jen

I wish you a speedy recovery and send you healing intentions Jen. Get well! :-)

Rayraz ( ) posted Tue, 23 September 2003 at 6:55 AM

"my ovarian cyst ruptured, and am now on some heavy pain meds...." Well, I never had that happen to me :p Sounds painfull. I hope you recover quickly and that it won't hurt too much.

Get plenty of rest (while your rendering lol, I really can't wait to see this) Praying your pain meds work, and that you heal fast. Take care, Teri R

catlin_mc ( ) posted Tue, 23 September 2003 at 8:55 AM

Oh there's nothing as good as some heavy pain meds when you're in pain and most of them do make you sleep which is the best thing for you. So put your tootsies up, keep warn and relaxed, and that render will be finished in no time and you'll be feeling much better too. Take good care Jen don't try to do too much and have a giggle at Rayraz with his not having had one of those. 8) Catlin

Rayraz ( ) posted Tue, 23 September 2003 at 12:57 PM

"have a giggle" Wise words. It's been said laughing is the best medicin :)

hugsssssss thanks guys, this really means alot to me...seems I'm going back and forth between feelin loopy and passed out snoring..lol One thing is for sure, I didn't expect this to happen, the dr was hoping it would just go away, well, it has, just not the best way possible....lol Anyhow, once all this excess fluid that came from inside the cyst is reabsorbed, the pain will stop so until then....I got my tea, the bottle of main meds, and bryce....hahahaha hugssssssssssssss love you guys!!
