I use Photoshop 7, and I have 3 hard drives. One has the OS (and PS), another with the page file and another is the main scratch disk for PS. When I had only two drives I put my main scratch disk on the same drive as the page file. Still not sure if that was right, lol. Experiment and try doing the same actions with large files but with the scratch disk pointing to each drive, see if you can tell which may work better for you? I let Photoshop have 100% of my memory. Hey, I tried it and it works great so I leave it like that. BUT, I DO have Windows 2000 Pro, it manages my memory really well for me, I don't see big hangs when I switch from PS to another graphic application. I normally have 3-4 such programs running. Then again, most my PS files really aren't bigger than 100Mb. I have/use 512Mb sdram. Not sure about your style loading time, doesn't sound like there may be a way around it, other than organizing your styles into smaller catagories, lol, which is probably not the solution you were looking for. Thanks for the reply. I just changed settings around a bit and will see how it works. Maybe I will just install another copy that is bare so I don't have to wait 5 minutes to load just for some quick color adjustments. I have XP Pro and it definitely handles memory much more reliably and efficiently. I'd be dead in the water if I still suffered with ME...LOL :?)

I now have a seperate drive that I thought I would put the scratch disk on, but read that I should not have it on the same drive as the OS and Page File. I want the page file on the slave drive, so should I keep the scratch on the main drive or go ahead and put in on the drive with the page file? I only have 448MB RAM, so I hit the page file often. Also, with that little amount of ram, how much should I let Photoshop have? I read 50%-75%. Just wondering what works good for others. Bonus question...hehe. I have tons of styles loaded I like handy for inspiration, but it's taking PS 5 minutes to load. Any way to improve this or not? Thanks!
