Subject: It's getting tiresome....

The slowness of this site. Especially noticeable when trying to access the site or any of the forums.....and forget the galleries. I'm on DSL. I pity anyone on dialup! When in the world is this going to be resolved? It's been an intermitent issue now for weeks. Is it possible that you've overextended the capability of your servers by adding the space and email options?

Some seem to be sailing while others are dragging. It's flowing fairy well on my side (Los Angeles, cable modem) But, I do know that more optimizing of the site is going on right now. I know it may sound lame, but having the latest browser version may help (if you don't already), I know some of the upgrades take advatage of what the latest browser version can do. AgentSmith Mod

San Diego, cable modem, latest browser (Explorer) intermittent flowing and other times dead stop. I thought maybe it was some of the long essays we've had posted here lately that caused the problem.......... kidding, just kidding. Really. Walking away, whistling.

I know that some ISP's are still getting flooded with wildy rampant viruses consuming bandwidth as well. Nonetheless, we're still working on performance issues.

Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.11.06.xpsp1.020828-1920. Computer is a PIV 1.7ghz, 512 mb ddr Ram. Run XP Pro. Updated the browser last week to the latest iteration of versions and patches. This is the only site that I'm having a problem with. As Dialyn says.....sometimes it's fine...other times, dead in the water. Maybe I come here too much....I'll try and stay away for a few weeks and see if that helps.

I will say that our work computers have slowed down incredibly recently, mainly due to those wonderful members of the public out there that decided to introduce viruses into our City computers via free Internet access for their laptops. It may have been done innocently. It may not. But the viruses and worms have, in fact, slowed down things considerably. Our audit system was offline for a week while someone laughed their stupid little head off over the cleverness of hacking into a system that pays the bills. Funny stuff. I'm in all sympathy for the people who have to solve the problem. And I've noticed my Yahoo browser has also been very slow. So it's not just Renderosity. Bless be are all those not yet impacted...unfortunately I think everyone will be sooner or later.

Florida. DSL. The forums are slow, but in a tolerable way. The galleries...forget it. I could make whole new pictures in the time it takes gallery pictures here to load. Strangely enough, and I'm sure, completely coincidental, the Marketplace comes in extremely fast...

No one has answered the question whether or not the web space or storage and email activities are being run off the same server as the rest of Rendorosity. If so, I would conjecture that this may be part of the problem. The intermittence of the problem makes me think that. It also opens up a whole new level of security issues. Trying to set up the security that is needed for these activities may create problems for the rest of the site. Actually, when things are slow, the store is just as slow as the rest. Today....it's not bad

sandoppe - the emails are on its own server and the web space is on another server...neither of them is shared with Renderosity's servers. tammy

That's good to know as well as a good thing :) I didn't think you would mix them on the same server, but had to ask! Well....hopefully you'll resolve all of the slowness soon.

Hmmmmm... maybe you might want to reinvestigate your provider. I'm not exactly on top of this stuff but I use several different machines (home [desk and laptops] and work) to access Render and I don't think I ever have this problem. Even when it appears slower, it's not to the point of annoyance. As for that amusing remark about the Marketplace never being slow, that's not surprising and not likely coincidental. Pick up a phone and call almost any Support line and they're gonna put you on hold. Call Sales and someone's gonna pick that puppy up on the first ring.

And I would suggest you check the numerous threads in a variety of forums here on this topic kmw. This is more than just the ravings of one or two people. As I said.....this is the only place I've had this problem. If it were my provider, I would guess I would be having problems at DAZ, at DNA, etc.,etc. Things are improving, so maybe they are close to being resolved. I can actually view gallery images now!!
