What are your settings in the Render room? Maybe your using one of the NPR or Draft settings? Or, (I hate to ask this, but...) is your monitor set to something besides millions of colors? What file format are you saving to? GIF or JPEG, could end up looking bad like that, depending on the settings. I know a lot of people import Poser files, but I don't. That being said, I know Carrara can do it and if I remember correctly, there is a rgeat tutorial available here on R'Osity about it. When you attach a skeleton to an object, you lose a lot of control over it. Instead all control goes to the skeleton. If you detach the object from the skeleton, you'll be able to manipulate it however you want. Including deleting it. Good luck, and have fun! I know I am with it. :>
Great! Thanks eveerybody including Daigoro. However, i don't see how the appropriate Textures will import to the poser models. For example, Vicky has her own texture etc. But I doubt carrara will know how to paste them to her body. Another thing i'm shocked about Carrara, and would like to know if there is any way to fix it, is the speed. When i had the G3 macintosh and Ray Dream Studio 5.5 i could get pretty awesome renders of say Cubes, spheres etc. In little time, But now it takes like loads of time, especially that Number 1 symbol that appears in a box that indicates the section being rendered. It goes in Subrows of that particular section, that makes it slower. I'm on a G5 with 512 MB ram, should i add more? However, moving things around in the modelers is super fast , it's just the rendering is kind of slow to me. ANy tips??? thanks

Tebop, are you still having trouble getting your poser figures into Carrara? If so, there's a tutorial covering it at castironflamingo.com (at least, I think that's the site). They talk about using soemthing called Grouper, which unfortunately us Mac users don't have. But the process of setting up your shaders is explained pretty well and I found that it wasn't too difficult to follow along and figure it out, even without the Grouper tool.I'm also linking to a thread that discussed the poser/carrara texture thing as well.
Thanks. I tried importinng characters and props and it was fun to see that the textures imported along. The only annoying thing is that Carrara asks to locate several of the textures. The problem was however with the eyes. It doesn't bring the texture from the eyes or eyelashes, so you get white eyeballs with no iris and black non hairlike eyelashes. I was reading the thing you posted. it was good, I still am wondering if there is a way to bring in characters into Carrara with Inversekinematics and bones already in place. but i guess maybe not. Oh wait! you can also import several frames from a poser animation to ccarrara right? so that will be great: ) thanks everyoen

Hello just got carrara 3 and i'm confused. I render a simple, say a sphere, and it looks unsmoothly shaded. Such as you would see if your monitor was thousands of colors and not miliions. why? I thought it was supposed to be photo realistic rendering Another thing that i wanted to do is bring in a Poser character and apply one of the Poser Texture Maps, is this possible? And finally, when i do bones. The object with bone is undeletable. How can i delete it? Any experienced carrara users willing to tackle my challenging questions?? thanks
