i'd like to see a group project spring to life, maybe a 7 or 8 minute animation. it can be rendered one minute at a time on several computers, written by some of the talented people here... i brought this up a long time back. seems like this thread is an open invitation to do just that. let's see how far we can bush the envelope and be ambitious.

PandaPride ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 6:09 PM

lol I'd like to see some male action,,, like some hottie bodies riding away on a harley........yummmie

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 6:21 PM

And to think, I was made happy today when noggin found a llama texture for me today (thank you Moonrose). I guess I am now soooo old that I am more excited by Noserferatu and a llama than I am by hotties on harleys. I don't know whether to cry or laugh hysterically.

ugh... I have peeked at the top 20 once or twice and agree it is usually a set set of picture types that get in. it is also the usualy people. ~shrugs abit~ the fact of the matter is I have come to realize... 1-there IS a clique here. no doubt about it. a person not in the clique can do a pic..original great work they get maybe at best four comments...and then a cliquette does a "similar pic" and they get the 20 some odd comments and votes out the wazoo. 2-the amount of comments/votes have NOTHING to do with a pic being good, great, bad, or whatever. 3-top20 is not a judge of great original work. Frankly...I am abit tired of the clique ideal. Lets just do what we like and go from there. those that like the same style or pic topic..will look and comment and that is that. lordy I need to stay away from the coffee .....

You all seem to take this too serious, and if more than 1/2 of these people complaining, do not look at hot 20, then you don't see the people that get in, that do not belong to any clique's. That are NOT in there all the time-etc..etc. I have friends here but I only vote for the pictures I think are damn good and orginal. Gee it's just too bad you all like to try and take the fun out of being in Hot 20. Here I'm a Na-Na (Grandmother) and I was so darn proud and happy when I get a picture in the Hot 20. What did you guys eat for lunch? Sour grapes?

Love is Grandchildren.

elektra ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 8:35 PM

dialyn - go with the laugh hysterically. You'll feel better. :-)

DarkElegance ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 8:41 PM

uhmm why is it taken automaticly as sour grapes? and why is it if someone speaks about it ..it is seen as complaining or bad form? geez I suppose now because I spoke out against the morality police that go skulking through here that I am just eating "sour grapes"? all anyone has to do is go through the galleries...and they will see the very apparently "clique" and whos in it and whos not by the comments etc. it was even {from what I have been told} brought to glaring light by a certain {hope I get this right} Pink Pony. it proved that it is not nessecarily quality that gets you in a top spot.{ and please note that is not sayinng that clique work is not good...do not read between the lines what is not said please}

there's only two solutions: either the people who dislike the clique start a)producing more work and then b)start commenting on those works of your peers more, which will redifine you as a clique of your own, or ignore it. that's it really. i can't see the clique myself, because not only am i rarely in the gallery, but i'm self absorbed in my own huge project right now. if there really is a clique here, that's how to settle it. a large project with defined roles will gain recognition for participants while not promoting the clique. either way i could care less. i just want to see less nekkid v3 and more stories behind the pictures. my biggest gripe is that almost every pic in the hot 20 is rendered at either eye level or nipple level ;)

Georgress said:"it should be the 20 most viewd THIS WEEK" Man, can you imagine the flood of "really nekkid Vickies" invading the Hot 20? Cuz those are the most viewed.

Sheesh. Hey peeps it's not that bad, really. I never looked at the Hot20 because, stupidly, I didn't know how to get to it. One day I noticed the link, clicked it, AND ONE OF MY IMAGES WAS THERE. How about that? LOL Then I said, hmmmmm, this is interesting. So I looked at the Hot20 for Bryce and what did I find? One of my images was there too!! LOL Hey, it will never happen again but I'm not complaining. :)

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 10:30 PM

I don't even know where the Hot 20 is, but I really liked Gallery picks of the week #6.....some really awesome images there!

NightHawkRN ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 10:56 PM

I have never made it into the Hot 20 (and probably never will) even though like an idiot I keep thinking maybe one day I will. I have create some images that I worked days on trying to push my creative envelop and not gotten hardly any comments on and that was very depressing. Other images that I just threw together in a matter of minutes that I really didn't think was that great got comments out the yazoo. The point is, just do your art and don't get discouraged. People will either like it or not, but bottom line,,,its YOUR art. Some say maybe there is a clique, maybe not,,,who cares.,,,as long as you feel you created something very meaningful and personal to you,,,thats all that matters. Any way thats my 2 cents for what its worth.

ladynimue - great idea. I'll be there on Sunday.

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 7:17 AM

It's going to be fun to see what favorites are uncovered. Does "the week" start or end with Sunday? (In other words, graphics for this Sunday should be posted on or September 28 to October 4, or September 29 to October 5? Don't flame me for being picky...someone was bound to ask, and someone was bound to complain if it wasn't clear to them.

ladynimue ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 7:46 AM

Ohh Dialyn you R such a party pooper - hehe You KNOW I am Just teasing ;] You are very correct we have to have set days of the week that images will be picked Lets do this: the week Starts with the first posting on Sunday- Rosity Time and end with the last Gallery posting on "Saturday - Rosity Time!" Poppi ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 9:19 AM

i used to vote..it made no difference. of course, that was back in the not so distant past when i actually would bother to VIEW to poser gallery. i gave up. let them vote for one another and look at each other till the cows come home. i am sure that i am not the only viewer/participant who is lost to the poser gallery.

barb ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 9:41 AM

I never knew what the 'vote' button was all about. And where does one find the Top 20? (Please forgive me if I've missed something obvious). Thanks!

barb ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:01 AM

One of the difficulties I have with the gallery is there are so many images. And some days even with cable it takes a long time for the images to open. Some folks upload one a day, some two - if I could suggest -a limit on the number we upload - restricting ourselves to (for example) one a week selecting what we feel is the best of our work for that week before we upload. This isn't a criticism. I admirehow prolific some folks here are. And, I enjoy finding new galleries and viewing works in media other than my own.

ladynimue ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:09 AM

Attached Link: http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?Hot=Yes&Sectionid=1

Every Gallery has a Hot20 The images in the Hot20 are picked by the number of times the vote button is clicked Just a note: You cannot see the Vote Button under your own images, because you cannot vote for your own images :) ladynimue

elektra ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:22 AM

Are you saying I could be in the hot 20 and not know it???? This is kind of funny.

barb ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:24 AM

I always wondered what the 'vote' button was all about. And I never saw that Top 20 link before - thanks so much :)

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 5:01 PM

I'm mostly lost to the Poser gallery, but only because of Rosity's recent slowness. I used to look at the gallery images a lot, but now, you wait forever, and half the time the pic never comes up anyway. :-P

sandoppe ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:00 PM

Does it have to be in the Poser Gallery or any Gallery? I know this is the Poser Forum, but there are lots of good images in other galleries as well :) Just thought I would ask!

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:10 PM

And there are Poser related graphics not in the Poser gallery. 100% Poser graphics are not all that common.

Lyrra ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:15 PM

Just wanted to note that for a while I was doing a series of '10 images to see' threads over in the Art Theory forum. Yes we have one .. surprise surprise :)

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:17 PM

I loved your 10 images to see threads....they covered all the galleries. It was a lot of fun. I don't like to hang out in the Art Theory forum, though. The is an air of being too-good-for-Poser over there. Have things changed?

Lyrra ( ) posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:28 PM

I haven't been there in ages .. since View Random was removed I can't do the "10 to see" in the same way. Which is a shame, I found many very good artists that way. I really don't have time to follow more than two forums.

ShadowWind ( ) posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 5:39 AM

The Hot20 is a product of it's environment. Since the most popular genre is the pinup/vicky fantasy image, of course, they are going to garnish the most views/votes. It's the nature of the audience.

Geoegress:
With all due respect, I remember when it was the most viewed that got the hot20 spots. It was much worse than what is there now. People would make up phony thumbnails just to get into the most views. A catchy title or a alluring thumb can do wonders for such statistics. What is most viewed has nothing to do with quality (and I AM NOT saying that viewed images aren't quality works, but the two aren't necessary the same thing).

I like the idea of member picks and was glad to see them add the Favorite Artist and Images. Doing so on a weekly basis will be cool to present a diverse culture of artists, since we all have different tastes and views. Even though deemarie and Lyrra did a great job in flagging some excellent images, I think having more people do it will really balance it out.

I still think that a random showcase gallery where each artist can put in one image into it that best shows their work (that they could change when they wanted). Then when people enter, they get a random 100 or more images from that gallery. They can hit a button to get another 100. This would give every artist a fair shot to show his/her stuff and not based on the understandable bias of human nature.

DarkElegance:
I am probably one of those ones that you would consider to be part of this mysterious clique that you seem to think exists. I get a lot of comments from people who have come to like my work as I've gone along and I am not that naive to think it's all artistic talent, because I know it's not. I'm certainly not the best technical artist on Rosity, and consider myself more of a storyteller than an artist. But you know, I am still amazed after two years when someone likes my work and makes that known. I still appreciate it, I still acknowledge it personally the best I can. I haven't become jaded to put myself on a pedestal that such a comment was deserved and expected. While they are certainly welcome, I never expect them from anyone that I comment on, because I do it for the love of the art, not because I am trying to rack up points or something. I often look for potential and storytelling, not always the most technical, though I certainly relate to those that simply just dazzle me as well. Art is all very personal and what attracts us to certain images is anyone's guess, but I don't view/comment/vote based on payback or some mission to shut out anyone. I do it because I care, and that I like to give an artist a boost or a tip. Doing so makes me feel good, and I hope them as well and I truly apologize if that hurts anyone, but it's not intentional.

One has to keep in mind as well, that within the community of Rosity, there is suburbs. Forum, Marketplace/Customer, Chat, and Galleries are all examples and even though one might do a lot of work to support their fellow artists there, that doesn't always translate to other suburbs, though it does help. There's a good chance even that one doesn't even know the other really exists, having never visited. This holds true in the galleries as well. Lot of people don't go outside their chosen gallery. Poser people don't know Vue even exists, vice versa. Artists that work in different venues, tend to find a wider audience and exposure to their work.

Many of the people that get lots of comments/votes, not only are great artists, but have done much for the community in which they are being recognized. Cases in point, SophiaDeer (Poser) and Gallimel (2D). These are two people who not only do great work, but spend so much effort, despite trials in their own lives, to bring light and support to so many. So why shouldn't their work be recognized for not only it's quality, but the effort they've shown in bonding? I don't think that's a clique. i think it's just human nature and I'm sure, in fact, I know, that they do it out of the caring for others and not some hidden agenda.

I think the clique thoughts are understandable. When i first got here, it was quite difficult to understand and I think for a full year, I didn't. When I started, I had 17 views and 0 comments and couldn't get the time of day. I started to just give up, when an artist gave me some good advice. He asked, "What have you done for the community?" I thought long and hard about that, and realized he was right. How could I expect others to extend their hand, when I was unwilling to extend my own. I then said I would be a more active member. These days, I only wish I could be more of a member than health and time allows, but I still care very much for those that I support and those that support my work. I cherish the friendship of many and I don't feel bad about it. Anyone with a little effort, caring and talent can get into the "clique" that doesn't exist if they so desire, but don't do it for fame, but for the friendships that come from it. It will provide you with much more than how many comments/votes.
