Subject: How many figures was the most you've ever used in a scene?

zandar ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 12:51 AM · edited Tue, 11 February 2025 at 6:10 AM

I'm currently working on one that has around 20-25 character figures in it. Not including props, what's the most you've ever worked with in a single scene?

OneShot ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 1:11 AM

31 in the Alien Scene and 24 in the Crucifixion scene

zandar ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 1:19 AM

Wow! Really impressive job on both scenes! Lots going on in both. I'm really into scenes with lots of characters doing different things. It's a lot of work setting them up perfectly.

I rather suspect this will be the record holder for most characters used in a render :-)

Yeh ... I saw this picture when it was published here in rosity and it instantly popped into my mind when I saw the question here !!

zandar ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 1:58 AM

"Siege" is an absolutely mind blowing scene. Award-winning in my book. Unbelievable.

Farside ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 2:12 AM

When it comes to Millennium figures, the most I can put into a scene is 8 or 9 if I'm lucky of either V2 or M2 fully dressed with scene & props. V3 or M3, I can put 2 if I remove any unneeded morphs.

nightfir ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 2:13 AM

hmmm i just looked at siege my god it's fantastic!

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 3:54 AM

Siege is fantastic but as with OneShot's great pictures, not rendered IN poser. Poser chokes much faster.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

In a single scene, without compositing in Photoshop, five assorted Vicky2, one Vicky3 and three Mike2. I reckon I could squeeze more by using the same texture for each Vicky2 instead of a different one for each. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=445804&Start=1&Artist=Replicant&ByArtist=Yes I can do a bit better than Farside for V3. Three Vicky3 and three Vicky2 in the same scene. I could only get the scene to render after I increased my RAM to 2Gig. All figures using the same texture, although two versions of it thanks to Dark Whisper's UTC. http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=402023&Start=19&Artist=Replicant&ByArtist=Yes Any more than that and my machine gets all huffy and refuses to play anymore.

Cool images, Replicant. I like the grandeur of "Bridge". The perspective of the camera really gives you the feeling of looking down inside one massive ship.

Berserga ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 8:21 AM

I would just use compositing, either in a photoshop style program or within Poser itself using paste into background. There's no reason to risk a failed render.

A guy testing P5 OS X said he put 34 Cr2s into a scene in an attempt to crash Poser, but he said he couldn't get it to crash.

CryptoPooka ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 2:12 PM

10 Mikes and a Vicky, all completely dressed for a sci-fi scene, including hairs.

EdW ( ) posted Thu, 02 October 2003 at 4:17 PM

The biggest one I have ever done is an animation with 24 figures (all p4 figures). I never could render it in Poser, but had no problems rendering it in Cinema. It did take 24 hours and change to render 600 frames though. I can't post a link or pic due to the content, but if anyone is interested just send me a message and I'll give you a link to it. Ed

I did 29 of Thornes faeries. No post work, but rendered in Vue. Rendered on a Toshiba laptop with 512MB RAM, and 1.6GHz processor. It was a $749 two day special at Best Buy.

Check this out... Over 300 of the low poly figures, male and female. The trick? Don't render in Poser! :-P

I'm agreed 100% with Gorodin, never render in Poser :) Other usefull trick is to use low polygonal figures for long shoot scenes, I used more than 200 for the crowd at this picture:

Commandar Ingenue Vickie (sadly out of uniform, as I couldn't conform anything to her) calls "BAT-TAL-ION, TEN-HUT!" 257 figures, 14 minutes render time, 6 minutes to save, 240 Mb PZ3. I think I could do 500+, but this is it for now!

Replicant ( ) posted Sun, 05 October 2003 at 9:39 PM

ROFL. Oh C'mon. You can't stop now!

Ingenue Vickie scans the group, now at regimental size. Hey, somebody is out of place! There is always one who doesn't get the word! This is a preview, I got an out of memory message when I tried to render (I only have 2 Gb!). So the answer is: Poser can render more than 257, less than 513 figures. They were all in the same scene, though. Putting a pose on girl 512 look a loooooooong time, though. ;-)

Gorodin ( ) posted Mon, 06 October 2003 at 4:43 PM

But is it art? :-)
