1-Convert to Obj. 2-In UVMapper: cut the mesh into the groups L/R Shin-Foot-Toes in locations matching the figure. (Make a good map also.) 3-Take an existing shoe CR2 and change the geometry calls to match the name and location of your new Obj files. 4-Move the centers with the JP editor in Poser if the shoes do not conform properly. Well shoes are "relatively" simple. They make a good starting point for learning skills that can make Poser more useful to you. The exercise is not as formidable as it seems. Learning the in's and out's of UVMapper is time well spent. There are several free programs that will convert the mesh, but Poser itself is probably your best bet. You can probably define the groups with the grouping tool as well as UVM , I just find UVM more forgiving.
If you make them into smart props at least you won't have to position them each time as they will automatically parent themselves. At first, import, position them and then parent them, usually boots should be parented to the shins not the feet. Now save them in your props library and when asked if you should save as a smart prop say yes. Test them before deleting the old ones! Many times I thought I had saved a prop which took me ages to position only to find that Poser hadn't saved it, upon opening the pp2 file I saw a blank page. Now I don't know how well props can be animated, a conforming figure will probably do better but at least you'll be able to use them in stills without going through all that hassle again.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to make a 3ds file a conforming figure in Poser4? I downloaded the boots by Zorbak from free stuff, and I'd like to be able to conform them to my figure rather than having to import & position them for each frame. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
