Subject: Fabric/textile bump

Hi,

Trying to learn the shader in C3. Does anyone know how close you can come to make a textile bump for clothes. I wondered if you can manage to make a bump like that with the procedural.

I'm asking for help so I don't have to tweak a hundred years without a result.

At least tell me someone where I should start to tweak.

Thanks,

Snekkis

What they do with Poser to get photorealistic textile textures is to scan a piece of fabric and use it as both the texture map and the bump map.

Yeah, I know. I'm only after the woven fabric. It should be for an ancient clothing. So it should only have a flat base color, but show the woven fabric. I have tried to put some tiled texture over an UV map, but I'm not succeeding by the UV seems. I'm not so good in UV mapper either.

Would be nice to know if it was possible to make from the procedural.

Another Q, is someone more comfortable with the new UV mapper inside C3 than UV mapper Pro? I found myself a little slow to understand it to be better than UV mapper Pro, which i'm used too.

Check out litst's night goggles model, which you can download from Eovia. He uses the brick pattern, repeated small, for the bump on the strip of fabric and it is very effective. Litst is a master at shaders and it's worth looking at how he does it. Hope this helps.
