Realllllllllly nice!!! The texturing and photo really sell this image. Just three things that make it look CGI: - Fence is too perfect. (did you use a texure or latice for this?) (If it's a latice, maybe you could bend it up a bit.) - Poster is too flat. (most of the edges are undamaged, no wrinkles and can use some variable fading) - Leaves are all flat. Need wrinkles. Why am I being so picky ??? Because EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THIS IMAGE IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME !!!!!!! (The grunge on the wall under the fence is fantastic!) Again, great job!! Have fun.
Well padawan that's what I call constructive critics! you'r damn right the fence is too perfect (in fact it's a terrain with an elevation map).. to bend it up I would need to model it in another sofware .. ok ok i agree for the poster.. i've been making it too fast (just can't wait to see the result of the image).. and for the leaves.. well yes it's flat but its only 3 polys per leave... LOL well sure I should have wrinkled them. Thank you for your comments and support!
If the fence is a terrain, you might be able to "bend" it by distorting the image you're using for the elevations. Maybe a few bumps with the smudge tool or asymetric spherical distortions? Just a thought. Again, the overall image is fantastic. Great work. (And the Animatrix reference is cool too. :) ) Have fun.
This is good work. The grass is very well done. A few more suggestions for improvement: Make use of soft shadows (assuming Bryce5). If you turn the Bryce sun off and replace it with a parallel light, you can vary the amount of softness to taste. The contrast of the 3D scene is much greater than the background pic. At the mid-ground (dumpster, barrels, fence, etc) the shadows and non-direct-lit surfaces should only be completely dark in the tightest of corners. Related to that, note that the shadows cast on the pipes and ground are much darker than those cast on the white wall. Even allowing for the whiteness of the wall, the difference is noticeable.
Awesome! i suggest giving my free zenith lighting system a try. It produces daylight such as this very well! You can download here: http://www.renderring.com/models/zenith.zip Disable the sun when you use this. You may have to adjust the light rbughtness to fit the scene. It produces soft shadows with the default render settings so it won't increase the render time much. For the fence, you can open the elevation map in photoshop and play with the "zigzag" filter under "distort." Only other thing i can suggest is increase the bump height of the dumpster texture. it looks flat from this angle.
