Ang25 ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:12 AM

Spinning wheel, Flying shuttle. Erlik beat me too it :( Your calling it the "flying wheel" or "shuttle bug" :)

dialyn ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:16 AM

Hand powered Pumper fire truck?

Pumper Truck?

:)

Claymor ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:41 AM

So, the only events I can come up with for 1733 were the invention of the "flying shuttle" and the founding of Savannah Georgia. M.Evans is a blank as is 1968. So, my two guesses are: 1. the model: A railroad handcar 2.you're calling it: the flying shuttle

cherokee69 ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:46 AM

It's the hearse you have been working on.

mlevans ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:48 AM

a bicycle

BCEmcke ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:50 AM
  1. I think it is called a flying shuttle which allows you to weave faster. 2. A loom!

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 11:54 AM

A 1968 Galleon houseboat? My guess for the name: El Capitana

My research is bringing up all sorts of fascinating historical items when I use only two or three of the hint criteria, but I can't figure out how to reconcile all of them, hmmmm. Excellent head-scratcher, Sharen! I'll keep trying for awhile, but this is a tough one.

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 12:36 PM

A peddal boat... one of those boats you sit in and move with your feet. Don't know the proper name.

xoconostle ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 12:41 PM

OK, forget it. Here goes: Early version of a submarine.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 1:00 PM

Well, Marian or Mary Evans was George Eliot's real name, of whom there was a biography published in 1968 - but I haven't the faintest idea where that gets us, or where 1733 comes in.

Hi all you are all doing great, just wanted you to know I am here and watching. Sharen

pdxjims ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 2:03 PM

I have no idea.... But I'm bookmarking this so I can go "doh!" when the solution is finally guessed. Sharon, one of your best. BTW, It's Mary Ann Evans for George Eliot. And the only hand powered vehicles I can think of are a handcar and a rowboat. Handcar has already been guessed, so Rowboat?

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 2:13 PM

Thank you pdxjims....:-) Sharen

igohigh ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 2:21 PM

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 2:55 PM

Pdxjims: that's what I thought, but Chambers gave Mary/Marian and I was too lazy to check elsewhere.

Totally flummoxed so gonna say, a mill with a waterwheel; (sorry my head is out to lunch and can't remember the name of the big wheel atm). And will call it, the river mill. I'm really interested in seeing what all those items have in common. :)

islandgirldesigns ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 3:50 PM

I've tried taking that info and looking on the internet. NO HELP! ROFL. You guys are sneaky! LOL I'm just gonna throw a guess out. Sharen loves Koshini and has been making a ton of Koshini stuff - so - It's a UniShini Cycle! :D

rasputina ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 3:53 PM

a rickshaw, a braugham err.....

Irish ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 4:38 PM

I think it's a railroad push car - the kind they used two men on, to go up and down the tracks. There was a law passed in 1968 about the push car and railway crossings in particular. The bill or Law is #1733 - M.Evans is a book company, which probably published a book on the above. :) Irene

Dave-So ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 4:45 PM

its a tough one :) But I think Irene must be real close

brittmccary ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 4:46 PM

If it's a railroad push car, I think it's called dressin. :)

tialise ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 4:47 PM

LOL if she's right, it could be the "Upsie-Downsie Car" but I bet it would not be called that. LOLOLOLOL

ut0h ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:05 PM

soap box car name: lightening

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:27 PM

Alright, now one of you have guessed what the model is, I won't say who yet. The person who came up with the right answer will get their prize but someone can still get the bonus gift. You all have a chance to guess the exact name for our model if you can figure out: 1. who has the right answer? 2. what did we call it? One guess each please, review the clues: 1733 M. Evans 1968 Hand powered vehicle and lets add some clues: 1. Remember I posted something this week regarding what this could be used for. 2. Name of a flower. 3. Polanski Sharen I would love to give the bonus gift to someone.....

bknoh ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:31 PM

Ok, all my research lead mostly toward a push car, also....but that isn't too spooky...soooo, I will guess a gurney.

genny ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:32 PM

It has got to be a "Torture Chamber" because that is what your are doing to me! LOL! Had lots of fun reading the thread, but I would really like to see the Herse? (: genny

Foxseelady ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:35 PM

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:37 PM

Helloooooooo, a $25.00 gift certificate at Daz is up for grabs......someone already won the first gift...who will win the bonus....Sharen

Rosemary

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:51 PM

Let's see, last week, you said it could be used for Halloween. Which perhaps implies that it could be spooky, but isn't a classic Halloween prop. And you said it wasn't the hearse. Based on the new clues, I'm guessing "baby carriage" is the right answer, and you're calling it "Rosemary's Baby Carriage."

bknoh ( ) posted Fri, 10 October 2003 at 5:53 PM

HMmm...did you say we have to guess who got the right thing, too? In that case I guess it would have to be a baby carriage guessed by Billi.
