Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
Thanks... Sorry- I'm new to P5 - "magnet out"? You really have to make the guy skinny to get that suit to fit right? If only I scale the suit down (not his muscles) even a little, his skin shows through, yet the suit still looks too big for him. I guess its just not a very good suit model... What about the problem at the bottom where it looks ragged? Scaling and tapering the suit didn't seem to work. P5 gives you all these free clothes, but they don't work very well together, so what good are they? Thanks for your ideas.
Try to turn invisible all the parts that poke through that you don't need (the chest for instance). Go into the hierarchy editor and click on the eye next to the part you wish to make invisible. As for the bottom, where it looks raged : try to augment x and Z scale. For all the parts where scaling don't work and that you cannot make invisible, use magnets : the Poser manual is a good start, but Dr Geep's tutorials are even better (available in the tutorial section of Renderosity, or by searching the forums for "Geep"). As for the clothes, it has nothing to do with Poser 5, they act just the same in all the versions of Poser...
jmerrill_2001 Just what character are you using? I know that you said you are using the default P5 suit, but is that Don you are trying to fit it to? If it isn't that could be a big part of your problem. The P5 default clothing won't fit characters or models other than the Default P5 characters. mike
You might have to use collision detection and the Cloth Room, which I think has a bit of a learning curve. I know that there tutorials on the adjusting clothes in the Cloth Room. I think that P5 intends for you to use the cloth room to fit clothes instead of simply trying to conform them (which was always problematic). You might also consider buying The Tailor at Daz3d, which goes about this whole problem from a different approach. It will allow you to transfer your figure morphs to the garment so that you can morph it to match the figure and get the physique you want. Good luck.
jmerrill_2001 MY GOSH! I just tried to fit the suit jacket to Don. This has to be the worst conforming piece of clothing I've ever seen! How much time do you have for your project? You might do better checking through the forums for information on fitting Don's head to the P4 Business suit body. mike

So I have my African American male dressed in the default P5 male business suit, but the suit doesn't fit very well. First of all, it looks huge on him - gigantic sholders and a big collar. Do I have to make this guy skinnier and then also scale down the suit "figure" as well? Is there not an easier way? See the photo - this is AFTER I have scaled down his muscles and suit somewhat - but the skin still shows through in places. Also, the suit seems to go into his pants which makes it look ragged. How do I fix that? FYI - Unfortunately, I don't have any budget on this project to buy any third party add -ons like clothes, props, software or models.
