Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 10 10:34 am)
Ack clicked delete by mistake on my other reply. You have to click the forum links twice right now to get to to the actual post. 1) Click once to open new window. 2) Click again to get to post. I supsect the public beta will be longer than a month before release but then again maybe they are further along than I thought. I personally don't mind a very long beta if it means stability and full functionality with compatibility. I think it will take people time to get used to it before they can really flush out the bugs that might not appear at first. A short beta is just that much better. :) Either way, I think it is all very exciting. I like Poser but am so ready to put it in the background.

Hallelujah and sing out Brother Anton!
I've been involved with developing and testing apps long enough not to expect too much in a 1.0 version - especially right off the bat - but if I got reasonable stability, improved asset management and easy-to-manage lighting, I'd be a very happy camper!

"I suspect the public beta will be longer than a month before release but then again maybe they are further along than I thought." Well, technically, I guess they could release the beta in very early November and release the final right at the end of December, making it more like a two-month beta. ;-) I agree that it's pretty exciting (transparency in preview mode alone will make my life better); judging by the number of people who are quick to find the flaws in new meshes (or Poser upgrades) and the speed at which they do it, and adding to them the number of extra people who'll join in more quickly because the program is free rather than holding off until they can afford it and I think it's safe to say to say that the bug-finding part of the beta should go fairly quickly; it' up to DAZ, of course, to fix 'em quickly enough to make the final version release date. I'm anticipating a fairly smooth procedure (I'm feeling optimistic today) with a fairly stable program late December/early January. After that, we're back to waiting patiently, this time for the plug-ins.
I too am very ready to leave Poser aside. It is so insanely slow on my machine... :) So here's hoping for the best.

I doubt they would put a beta in magazines since beta is typically to find problems. I doubt the download will be so bad, especially if we can download something like M3 or V3.

This is what I am excited about(displacement maps). Look at the tree render and the dress bodice in the gallery. Can't wait to be able to take advantage of that I hope. Makes Bump maps a thing of the past thank god.-Anton, creator of

for those who don't know what I am talking about, these are the people doing the Renderer. Displacement maps are a map that basically takes a rediculously low res model and says "res this puppy up and render time and shape it like this." Not that that is accurate but that is how I look at it.

LOL, that tree example is amazing. I didn't even think the most advanced 3D programs could turn something that simple into something that good. Looks like there's lots to look forward to. :) SnowS
