Subject: Very new to Vue - how do I make the terrain line disappear?

Hello, I've a question. Every time I render a terrain on a ground plain, instead of a smooth landscape I get a line which indicates where the terrain ended and the ground plain is showing. Texture on both is the same. How do I get rid of it?

Just try to move "clip" (or "cut"?) slide in the terrain editor Also, your problem seems to indicate that the terrain is under the default ground plane, maybe just select the ground plane and delete it... Yves

Here's how to clip your terrain.

Firstly, double click on your terrain to bring up the terrain editor and follow the instructions in the graphic above.

Cheers,
Mark

Next adjust the clipping rate. Again see instructions on the grpahic.

And finally.... Now save the scene quick! Further info is in the manual p165 - Clipping Terrain Altitudes p257 - Clipping Terrains / Making a Stone Arch. Have fun.

Mark

As do I BigGreenFurryThing - something that I haven't quite gotten to in the manual. This will be very useful. I look forward to your tutorials when you get them completed. Megalodon

Thanks. It's also possible to hide the square base of the terrain by moving it below the ground plane but that's no use if you are combining terrains or using them as models. I'm trying to get the training CD together ready for early New Year. It'll likely include tuts like above plus movies for the tricky bits. :-)

Cheers,
Mark

Thanks for this valuable hint. It also helps to create waves/foam on certain places. Lowering the terrain doesn't help here.
