Ockham's razor- It's that simple
Yeah it's definately the weapons/armor. I tried importing the character nakid and it works fine. With the armor on though I can't import it into Bryce as an object. It gives me this error when I try to import it into Bryce. A file error has occurred (i/o, bad media). Is there something I'm not doing? Thanks

Here's an (old) shot in the dark... Try exporting it ALL out of Poser, save as obj, and use the UVMapper solution; Meaning, for some reason, some obj's freak out and won't import into Bryce. You literally just open said obj with UVMapper (classic), then re-save it (without doing anything to it), and somehow this fixes it. The "classic" version is freeware. *If for any reason on opening the obj in UVMapper, you get a message saying "This object has no UV texture coordinates use Edit-New to create some"...click the following; "Edit>New UV Map>Planar>OK" (no need to change settings) Then just go ahead and save. When saving you will get a window for saving options, again, no reason to change any of the settings. Maybe worth a shot. AgentSmith

Uvmapper will fix it that way, however you'll need to texture it in Bryce manually. Meaning: No reference to the textures on the saved obj. model. So, you will need to know what everything is in order to search in the poser DIR structure. Make a mental note or write down which items you use. You can also apply Bryce mats too. Takes a little practice, but you catch on quick.

Actually, Aviticus, it also may be a problem with the size of the file. You can do two things.

There is going to be a class at LVS on Poser to Bryce. Classes are on-line, 6 weeks and cost under $30. PeggyLVS - Where Learning is Fun!

Just be careful you have no *.bum files attached to the object. If you're going to export it - leave them off. They almost always cause a problem - bad media errors or something of that sort. I often export without textures and texture in Bryce itself - either using Bryce matting or importing the necessary jpg.

If you run your obj through Grouper before importing into Bryce it has a function to convert bum files to jpeg or bmp. You should also try to copy/paste the Poser textures you're using into the same folder where you keep the obj, 'cos then you know where the appropriate textures are and you won't have to go hunting for them again I always use Grouper before importing to Bryce it solves all sorts of problems like creating a new mtl file, etc. You can get it at the link, and another good thing about it, is it's free. 8) CatlinThe cube trick is the most dependable in this sort of situation. Are you using Bryce 4? I think I've never had this problem since moving to Bryce 5. For greatest efficiency - a) Arrange your Poser textures in a sensible way so that you find them easily from Bryce. b) Don't bother texturing anything in Poser. Do it in Bryce and save the textures as mats.
There's one thing I need explaining about the cube thing, where in Poser do you find the cube? I am still a novice with Poser but I'm getting better every day. 8) Catlin BTW, if you go to the link there are a whole load of entertaining tutorials by Dr geep who is a godsend when it comes to explaining all things Poser.

Hey I have a quick question. What is a good way to export people from Poser and then import them into Bryce? Like what's better, .obj files, dxf, 3ds, etc..
Sometimes if I export them as object files I can get the textures the work but the eyes are just white.. Is there a different file you export them as or am I just doing something wrong?
Thanks.
