I was screwing around with the banners for the header and saved a couple and had dinner and went to look at them and they were really freaky looking, like there had been some type of super compression used on the text, can anyone explain this?

What program did you use for the text?

PSP7, I've done banners before, and all my ad stuff, this has just started happening, it's like it's degrading...

One problem I ran into was saving the backdrop in the small banner size and then adding the text. Doing all the work in a larger dimensional/resolution PSD (in a multiple size of finish product, saving the PSD so I can make changes later if needed. Then I save as a BMP which requires no compression. I open a new file the size of the actual logo, copy to the smaller frame, resize, then save in jpg format. Overall the first step of saving a PSD (300dpi)will allow you to work out any situations later. Hope this helps.

I just throw two images together, playing with layers. Not very good, but I wanted to participate. ;-) J.

I did all my text rendering in Bryce, what you see is what you get... Although, NONE of my finished works ever look right without a little postwork, these days...

And here it is "raw". I rendered a distance, an altitude, and a DOF version as well, and composited them to create the previous, "finished" version.

ICM, you know I've never saved anything in .psp format, I'll give your idea a try, I do however, try to save in bmp format as often as I can. I just did some product promos and nothing like this happened (pasted in layers, but no text), but when I use big thick text I get that weird degradation of the color. BTW, NICE banners you guys, way to go!
