I'm sorry if this is already old news to our friends in the U.K. but Digit magazine has the full version of Carrara 1.1 on their CD on sale in the States this month. I have been using it a short while and have already had a ball making stuff with the spline tool. The interface has a lot in common with the controls in Bryce and Poser( I personally have always enjoyed Kai Krauses' funky design) so the familiarity might lessen the learning curve for new modelers. awesome, I missed the c4d issue--Im trying ot get my hands on a back copy, but does carrara let u import obj or 3ds models?

@ woodhurst- yes, I'm happy to report that Carrara lets you import obj, 3ds, and dxf files. I'm lovin' the metaball modeler too. It comes with several metaball primitives, negative and positive, and IMO is a lot easier to navigate in than Truespace. And you can export any model you make in those filetypes mentioned earlier.

awesome, I just ordered the issue of the mag, as im looking for something that I can render my wings models w/ that has GI and a more powerful rendering engine (than bryce that is)

hmm..and slowly my plan to have one package from every forum advances another step..;)
The Cinema 4d from Computer arts hit here only 2 weeks ago, if you're in the States, they're usually 1-2 months behind. just one of life's mysteries, I guess.
Hmm again.. can you pull wings models into C4d and then tweak them?..I saw somewhere..something, that referred to the C4d gimme package a 'low poly' application..wonder what that means..

just d/ld the v3 trial version, just to see what the interface is like. imported one of my wings models and rendered....pretty cool!

hahahahaha ohhhh no you don't!!! Not gonna get me again! LOL Went runnin out for the C4D and finally got them to send me a free demo disk...LOL but can't use it...LOLOLOL my pc can't handle it!! (covers eyes and hides..not gonna look, not gonna look)
