Couldn't find this in archives if it has been covered before please point me to it. Upgraded from ME to XP. All my apps are running fine except VUE (4.2 all current patches) with Mover. Uninstalled (to include deleting the direcotries and scubbing the registry for references to VUE. Reinstalled (typical, custom full and custom minimal) Start VUE and get a windows Application has failed do I want to send a problem report to MS. No other error messages. Click yes or no and back to the desktop. VUE ran fine under ME on this system (PIII, 512ram, 128 GForce 4400. ANY ideas? Is there a registry value I'm overlooking or a hidden config file somewhere? Pf

I had similar problems going from W2K to XP. Install XP SP1 and all critical patches then reinstalling Vue solved the problem. Not sure which patch did the the trick tho'.

Cheers,
Mark

Went back and made sure I have all the updates. Reinstalled VUE and still no joy. Strangest thing I've run into with an app. Appreciate the idea - it did remind me to finissh the patches. Pf

ME has so many bugs in it....My suggestion would be to reformat you c: drive and install a fresh OS of XP. then install Vue. I know that when I upgraded my OS from 2000 Pro to XP Pro...I had the same problem. Did a reformat and clean install of XP (and all the updates and service pak) and it has worked fine ever since. I know that is a pain in the butt, however..it should solve your problem. Make sure you get all the service pak and critical updates for XP from Microsoft as well, "BEFORE YOU INSTALL VUE!" Good luck

Ouch. Last clean install took me a week of solid work to rebuild all I have on the system. Guess It may be time to do it though. Appreciate the comments - anyone else have an idea before I do the slug work :) Pf

Try reinstalling XP over itself first...sometimes it will work. You will have to reinstall a few progs tho...cause it rewrites the registry... worth a try before you do the ugly thing.... GOOD LUCK. James

That's worth a try. Thanks. PF

when the windows error report comes up, click the details and see what is causing the failure. look where it says the error report is at and go there in explorer to the obscure temp directory where its appcompat.txtfile is and copy/print it somewhere. You can then send to eon instead of ms. ..Sometimes refreshing the dll will fix, and unless its a necessary process, deleting it from registry (or just renaming) will cure it.
