Mixing materisls, animating via mover4, creating new plant species... Pretty much most of the things we were promised that vue pro would do are not working. I am on the Mac but it seems to make no difference. Be sure and get the latest upgrade via the update feature - it might help. Welcome to the growing list of paying beta testers. Scott

That program is a serious rip off e off.

This is funny. I've spent the day replacing graphics cards, memory etc. to get the update to work! :-0 I've downloaded it 3 times and I'm getting a memory access error from the updater which corrupted my original Pro install forcing me to remove it also!! Going backwards...going backwards ... going backwards Definately a Twilight Zone episode. Bot

Vue Pro seems to be off to the same kind of start as Poser 5...

Man I wish the best to all of us in this sad & sorry state of affairs.

Yes...to answer the original question...mixing materials does cause Vue Pro to crash on my system. So does editing the colors of any function in the atmosphere editor. (light color, sky color, fog color, haze color...etc) I've contacted e-on support and left a couple of threads. My guess is that they've got a problem with the little program that updates their material previews. In any case, this definitely looks like time for a new build...maybe even a 4.51. -SMT

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!

It seems like a compatability problem with certain hardware configurations. All of those features work fine on my system. I can mix materials fine. No lock ups no crashes. Low-end XP box. I did have a problem with the auto update feature with the last patch. It kept failing. So I went and downloaded the patch manually and it installed fine.

I have experienced problems similar to smallspace. Adjusting about any parameter causes my machine (p4 3.0, XP pro) to lock up so tight I have to use the reset button. I have gone through this with e-on and tried a series of ideas, none of which worked. E-on was responsive to my queries and tried to help solve this. I am dropping back to punt, returning to Vue 4.2 and will await proper bug extermination until Pro is ready to use. I am willing to pay for the update when it is ready but have too much work to accomplish to fight this battle now.

scotttucker3d ( ) posted Tue, 28 October 2003 at 12:17 PM

Pay for the update??? No way - we've already paid with lost productivity. Vuepro isn't doing most of the things I bought it for and the update should fix what we paid for in the first place. Don't even give e-on the wrong idea you would pay for something you should have gotten (and were PROMISED) in the first place. I've already spent lots of billable hours beta testing software I PAID for. They owe us an update that simply works as promised. Scott

FYI Okay, I tested and found a bum stick of ram and replaced it. Defragged my HD and ran check disk and defragged again. Unistalled Pro and reinstalled and it seems to be working now! :-) I'll let anyone who is interested know if there's any other problems. Bot

Scott, What I meant was I would pay for the switch to Vue Pro from Vue 4.X when it is debugged enough for me to use it. I played with Pro for almost two weeks before deciding it could not be used to produce any work and sent it back. mokba

Hey Robot17. What did you do to find the bad RAM? There are a lot of other people experiencing similar problems who would benefit from knowing how you fixed this.

Robot17 ( ) posted Wed, 29 October 2003 at 10:02 PM

Try your luck here - http://hcidesign.com/windows/ Free bee memory tester. Let me know if it works for you - I want to know if that was part of my problem for sure or not. Not completely over my crashes yet but much better. Bot

PS Finally got the updater to work

Thanks Bot. I'm not having problems but others are.
